He is famous all over Scotland. Robert was born on January 25, 1759. ROBERT BURNS Robert Burn’s cottage. He returned to his native village with money enough to buy a farm. «A RED, RED ROSE» BY ROBERT BURNS O my Love's like a red, red rose, That's newly sprung in June: O my Love's like the melodie, That's sweetly play'd in tune. As fair art thou, my bonie lass, So deep in love am I; And I will love thee still, my dear, Till a' the seas gang dry. Till a' the seas gang dry , my dear, And the rocks melt wi' the sun; And I will love thee still, my dear, While the sands o' life shall run. And fare-thee-weel, my only Love ! And fare-thee-weel, a while! And I will come again, my Love, Tho' 'twere ten thousand mile! «THE WINTER IT IS PAST» BY ROBERT BURNS The winter it is past, and the summer comes at last And the small birds sing on ev'ry tree; The hearts of these are glad, but mine is very sad, For my love is parted from me. The rose upon the brier by the waters running clear May have charms for the linnet or the bee: Their little loves are blest, and their little hearts at rest, But my lover is parted from me «CHARLIE, HE’S MY DARLING» BY ROBERT BURNS «FROM THEE, ELIZA» BY ROBERT BURNS From thee, Eliza, I must go, And from my native shore: The cruel fates between us throw A boundless ocean's roar; But boundless oceans, roaring wide, Between my Love and me, They never, never can divide My heart and soul from thee. Farewell, farewell, Eliza dear, The maid that I adore! A boding voice is in mine ear, We part to meet no more! But the latest throb that leaves my heart, While Death stands victor by, That throb, Eliza, is thy part, And thine that latest sigh! GEORGE GORDON BYRON Lord Byron is a well-known as a romantic poet, Lord Byron would become one of Europe’s most captivating artists. His satire mixed with an ironic ego brought freshness to literature that was wholeheartedly accepted. GEORGE GORDON BYRON Soon after his studies, Byron released his first book of poetry called «Hours of Idleness». GEORGE GORDON BYRON His remorse can be seen in the publication of his next three volumes of poetry, including his most famous, The Corsair.. MY SOUL IS DARK BY BYRON My soul is dark - Oh! quickly string The harp I yet can brook to hear; And let thy gentle fingers fling Its melting murmurs o'er mine ear. If in this heart a hope be dear, That sound shall charm it forth again: If in these eyes there lurk a tear, 'Twill flow, and cease to burn my brain. But bid the strain be wild and deep, Nor let thy notes of joy be first: I tell thee, minstrel, I must weep, Or else this heavy heart will burst; For it hath been by sorrow nursed, And ached in sleepless silence, long; And now 'tis doomed to know the worst, And break at once - or yield to song. JOHN KEATS John Keats regarded as one of the English language’s most naturally gifted poets. He wrote poetry that concentrated on imaginary, human nature, and philosophy. In fact, poetry was his life and it allowed him to see the world with a focused energy. JOHN KEATS John was able to have his first full poem published in the Examiner in 1816, entitled «O Solitude!». «O SOLITUDE!» BY JOHN KEATS O Solitude! if I must with thee dwell, Let it not be among the jumbled heap Of murky buildings: climb with me the steep,— Nature's observatory—whence the dell, In flowery slopes, its river's crystal swell, May seem a span; let me thy vigils keep 'Mongst boughs pavilioned, where the deer's swift leap Startles the wild bee from the foxglove bell. But though I'll gladly trace these scenes with thee, Yet the sweet converse of an innocent mind, Whose words are images of thoughts refined, Is my soul's pleasure; and it sure must be Almost the highest bliss of human-kind, When to thy haunts two kindred spirits flee . JOHN KEATS John Keats’ next work to be published was «Endymion», which he wrote that next year in 1817. JOHN KEATS His next work was Hyperion that would attempt to combine all he learned. Additionally, he released some of his “Ode” poetry in 1819.
