School or University administrators, Lions, friends of Lions and community leaders can provide names of potential members. Candidates may also be recruited through public announcements. FOR MORE INFO… Contact your District Leo Advisor What is the Leo – Lion Relationship The success of a Leo Club depends on the close partnership with its sponsoring Lions Club. The Lions role is to offer support, guidance and council while the Leo’s are responsible for planning and implementing their own activities, financing their projects and maintaining the smooth operation of the club. Leo’s have their own Club Officers & Constitution. The Leo Advisor (a member of the sponsoring Lions Club) serves as the chief liaison between the Leo & Lions Clubs. Duty’s of the advisor include offering constructive suggestions to the Leos, reporting on their activities to the Lions Club and promoting a cooperative relationship between the two Clubs. Leo Membership • 5,500 Leo Clubs world wide • 140,000 Leos under the sponsorship of Lions Clubs in 138 nations. • In MD 201 ( Aust. & New Guinea) we have 1,400 Leos in 56 Clubs. Costs to join a Leo Club. • Sponsoring Lions Club – US$100 Organisation fee - covers 20 new members ( Once only) – US$90 Annual Levy Flat fee pro-rata from 1/7 depending on date of Charter – US$5 Each Member thereafter. • Leo Clubs – A$9.35 per Leo per Year (MD Insurance Levy) All new members should receive a lapel pin, a membership card and membership certificate.
