Know Your Epidemic

Guidelines to Enhance Knowledge on Country-Specific HIV Context to Better Support the National Response

Purpose Improve the Joint UN Programme of Support

Basic Level of Knowledge

Collect information on epidemic and response in one document and use information to enhance UN knowledge on the status of the epidemic and the response 

Analytical Level

Use knowledge to deepen understanding and develop analysis on specific aspects of relevance/importance to the national response - identify gaps - identify priority areas of support UNAIDS April 30, 2020

Content: Part 1 – The Epidemic

 National and local prevalence (state, province, district)  link to Global Epi Update  Pattern of the epidemic: low, concentrated, generalized  Epi trends, Second Generation Sentinel Surveillance data  Most affected groups: age, gender, refugees, MSM, sex workers, IDUs  Regional/sub-regional Epi profile UNAIDS April 30, 2020

 Three Ones: National Strategic Plan, National Authority (include) organigram, M&E framework  Universal Access targets: achieved and to-be-reached  Service provision  Legal frameworks  National declarations UNAIDS April 30, 2020
