Armenia
Armenia lies in the highlands surrounding the Biblical mountains of Arafat. The name Armenia was given to the country by the surrounding states. In the early 20th century Armenians suffered in the genocide inflicted on them by the Ottoman government.
April 24, 1915
: 200+ scholars are rounded up and killed all over the Ottoman Empire.
June 1, 1915: 12,000 Armenians who were drafted into the Turkish army were massacred in the city of Balu.
June 25, 1915 : mass deportations of Armenians began all over the Ottoman Empire.
Genocide - "the deliberate and systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, caste, religious, or national group” (From UN Genocide Convention)

1915 - 1923 1.5 Million
Armenian men, women, and children were murdered, out of a total of 2.5
million Armenians, who resided in.
the Ottoman Empire.
