other materials in your own folder

taking the pass.
Each student must take the classroom pass with
them and put it back in its place upon returning.
Students can only leave the classroom once during
the period and for no more than a few minutes.
If a student consistently asks to leave the room on a
daily basis they will be referred to the administration.
Students may not use the pass to go into another
classroom or visit with other students.
DO NOT ABUSE THIS PRIVILEGE!
“I need to go see…”
O Often times you will need to go see Kim,
Laure, Toby, Alissa, Steve, another teacher,
etc.
O Please do this on your own time
O Unless you have an emergency I will not give
you class time to run these errands
Cell Phones
O If I see you with your cellphone out…
1.
2.
You will receive a warning
I will ask you to give me your phone for the remainder of
class
O
You should politely remind me to give it back to you at the end
of class. I may forget I have it.
Should you choose not to give me your cell phone I will
refer you to the school administration.
4.
If I have to ask you for your cell phone twice in one week I
will not give it back to you after class, and your
parent/guardian will have to pick it up from the school.
O If you answer/make a phone call in my class you will
automatically be referred to the administration.
3.
Absences & Make-up Work
O If you are absent it is YOUR responsibility to
see me the day you return to school to get
your make-up work
O Do not wait until days/weeks later
O See me before or after school, on your own
time, to get your work
O You may talk to me at the beginning of class
if you need to make an “appointment” to
discuss make-up work
O Make sure I write down our appt
Make-up Work (cont).
O If you know in advance that you will be
absent for a given period of time, please feel
free to see me to obtain your work ahead of
time.
O Make sure you give me some notice to
prepare your work for you
O If you are in class and CHOOSE not to
complete the work assigned that day you will
NOT be given a chance to make it up
Seating Assignments
O You will have assigned seats in my classroom
O Students are to take their assigned seats after
getting their folder upon entering class
O If you do not take your proper seat you will be marked
tardy
O If the problem persists you will be sent to the
administration
O If there is a problem with a seating assignment speak
to me in private (preferably before/after school)
O Wanting to sit near your friend is not an excuse to move
seats
O I may change your seat at any time I see fit
When Entering Class…
O Get your folder from your class crate
(without disrupting your classmates)
O Grab a pencil if you need it
O Sit down and quietly begin working on your
daily spark

O
O
O
O
For the most part you will have no homework
HOWEVER: If you do not finish your work in class during the
time allotted you are required to take work home so that it
will be finished by the time it is due.
There will be no make-up days scheduled into class time
during the semester
It is each student’s responsibility to make sure their work is
completed in time to be graded.
If you need more time or assistance to complete an
assignment it is your responsibility to let me know
Ample time will be planned for each assignment so that
work may be completed in class with assistance from the
teacher.
Participation
O You are expected to participate in class daily
O At the beginning of each month I will give you a stamp
sheet with dates and empty boxes
Keep these in your folder
O You are responsible for your stamp sheet, if you lose it you
cannot earn back the points
O
O Near the end of each class I will stamp your box if you
completed your work to the best of your ability and you
participated in class for the entire period.
O At the end of the month you will turn in your stamp sheets
so I can give you a participation grade
O Participation is worth 20% of your grade
Class Dojo
O http://www.classdojo.com/
O This is a tool that I use to help me let you
know how you are doing as far as
participation is concerned
The Box
O Please notice the box around my desk made out of duct tape
O My desk is MY area, and my personal space
O There will be occasions that I ask/allow you to sit at my desk
O Other than that, stay out of the box unless you are invited
O Do not take things from my desk/the box
O This includes my chair
O There is an invisible wall that extends upwards, to the ceiling,
starting with the duct tape on the floor
O Do not even step on the line because you think it is funny
O If my boundaries are not clear, or you do not understand
them, I will be happy to discuss this with you.
O And because I know you will ask, yes Matt, your assigned
seat is still my desk so you are allowed in the box, but not in
my bubble.
