Ellis Island
Did you know that before immigrants came to
America they had to go through Ellis Island?
They came with hope and tears, with
confidence and fear. Come see the sites at Ellis
Island where you can see what immigrants
lives were like.
The Statue Of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty was a symbol of freedom.
When people saw it, they started to cry. Some yelled “I
hope I never see your face again!”
The Boat
Immigrants on a sunny day would go out and
dance and play banjos. They slept in bunk
beds which were very uncomfortable .People
even fell in love and got married.
Inspection
Immigrants had to go through a six min
inspection by doctors. They would check
under the eyelid for trachoma. They would get
marked with chalk if they appeared to be sick.
Come Today
Enjoy the same experience as your ancestors
and come to Ellis island today! Come to the
museum where your ancestors set foot from
1892-1954.
