BETWEEN THE POLITICAL

Jefferson: envisioned the US continuing as an agrarian
society
•
Hamilton: foresaw the US becoming more urban and
reliant on big business
•
Disputes over interpretation of the Constitution, with the
D-R's granting the federal government what powers
were explicitly stated in the Constitution
•
The Federalists believed that there were implied
powers and a looser interpretation.
•
Sectionalism- loyalty to the interests of one's own
region or section of the country, rather than to the
country as a whole

In conclusion, without these political parties that George
Washington advised us to stay away from, many people
would be disappointed with the government. People
with different opinions would not be happy with a
person leading who has opposite views. We must still
believe that even without political parties, politicians
would still group themselves into conservatives,
liberals, and moderates.
