Anyone using alcohol
based sanitizers.
They are already committed to sanitizer.
Alcohols’ efficacy is good for about 2 minutes.
You reapply Protec-4 every 4 hours.
We can save the customer money – 2 uses of
Protec-4 per 8 hours versus 8 or more for alcohol.
At less than 4 cents per application (less than a
penny an hour over an 8 hour workday), Protec-4
is very economical when compared on a daily
basis.
Protec-4 won’t dry their skin.
Better compliance with hand washing protocols.
Better hand sanitation usually means lower
absenteeism.
Selling Against Gloves:

Almost every health department says the same
thing: They don’t like gloves either but their use is
driven by public perception.
Many studies have been done showing little or no
difference between hands that are frequently
washed versus using gloves.
Protec-4 is not a replacement for gloves –
HOWEVER! If your customer is using gloves, what
is going on inside that warm, moist atmosphere
around the hand? It’s a breeding ground for
bacteria.
Based upon various research conducted, the
incidences of breakage and leakage with vinyl and
plastic gloves is estimated to be between 15% and
70%.
With Protec-4 we can help drastically reduce the
threat of cross contamination.
We can help reduce the skin irritation frequently
associated with glove use.
Absenteeism:

According to US Department of Labor Statistics,
the average employee is absent 10.4 days per
year.
We know that they are not typically sick for all ten
days. However, if we can reduce absenteeism by 2
days per year, the average employer with 500
employees can save over $60,000 per year after
the cost of Protec-4.
An employer with 50,000 employees can save over
$6,000,000 per year after the cost of Protec-4.
Using Protec-4 two times per day (8 hour workday),
5 days per week, 52 weeks per year, the average
annual cost of Protec-4 per employee is only
$18.20
Anecdotally, we have customers tell us they have
experienced a 15% to 30% drop in absenteeism.
Health Departments:

Some potential customers may want you to seek
health department approval.
Health departments don’t typically approve
products.
Protec-4 is registered by the NSF (National
Sanitation Foundation) International. Companies
receive NSF registration by being deemed safe to
use in food prep areas. That can be restaurants,
hospital/assisted living kitchens, food
manufacturing plants, etc. All health departments
that Protec-4 has contacted directly recognize the
NSF registration.
FDA approval is not required for Protec-4 because
it is not considered a ‘new drug’.
Protec-4 is in compliance with the FDA OTC (Food
and Drug Administration Over-the-Counter)
Topical/Antiseptic Monograph.
The NSF process also includes a check to insure
compliance.
Health Departments:
How are we in compliance?

Active Ingredient:
Triclosan
Selling Protec-4


Active ingredient has been used safely in the United
States for over 30 years.
Triclosan is considered an ‘antimicrobial’ and not an
‘antibiotic.’
o It’s effective on a wide variety of bacteria and
other microbes.
o No ‘super bugs’ have been known to develop with
the use of Triclosan.
Antimicrobial soaps and other OTC products such as
toothpaste often use Triclosan as their active ingredient.
Active ingredient can be effective on ‘gram positive’ (bad
bacteria) and very often leaves ‘gram negative’ (good
bacteria) alone.
Hand Washing:

All healthcare professionals agree that
frequent hand washing is the best way to stop
the spread of germs.
We recommend following all appropriate hand
washing protocols as Protec-4 is not a
replacement for proper hand washing.
We also know that most people either do not
wash their hands often enough or wash them
LONG enough.
Additionally, soaps and alcohol sanitizers can
have a negative effect on hands – they can
dry hands out quickly.
This can create a disincentive to properly
wash hands.
Protec-4 is a lotion with Aloe and Coconut Oil.
When used as directed, Protec-4 can help
keep skin feeling smooth and moist.
This can help create incentive to follow all
hand washing protocols.
Health Care:

CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
Guidelines recommend the use of alcohol sanitizers in
hospitals. This guidline was put in place before our
product was available.
Many health care facilities follow CDC guidelines due to
potential liability issues and to maintain scoring on
JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations) accreditation tests.
“The most important
thing that you can do to
keep from getting sick is
to wash you hands.”
- Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention
Guidelines also call for the use of hand lotions to help
offset the effects of contact dermatitis. HOWEVER, there
was a reported incident where regular lotion was found to
be a carrier of bacteria.
A key element of our lotion is that it also helps your skin
retain more of its own moisture in addition to having aloe
and coconut oil in the formula.
Alcohol can be used on top of Protec-4 with no change in
efficacy.
Guideline for Hand Hygiene in Health Care Settings
(October 25, 2002 Vol 51 No. RR-16) page 33-34
paragraph 5 A. recommendation: “Provide Healthcare
workers with hand lotions or creams to minimize the
occurrence of irritant contact dermatitis associated with
hand antisepsis or hand washing.”
Simply Put:

Alcohol rubs, sanitizing wipes and
antibacterial soaps dry out the skin (by
removing natural oils) as they kill bacteria.
Common sense and personal practice
indicates that people with dry chapped
hands try to avoid further drying out of the
skin (washing) and the stinging effects of
alcohol.
Protec-4 moisturizes the skin while killing
bacteria – a simple effective solution.
