For example: There is a question that says:
Find a third of 78.
How do you do it?
You look at the fraction the question is asking you
to find… THIRD. What number can you hear in
‘third’?
Three.

Then, you divide 78 by 3.
You can use lots of different methods: the long
method, short division or bus stop or even the
chunking method.

What’s the answer?


you would multiply it by two – which is the
