Procedure for Implementing and Monitoring a
School Development Plan
The school development team has a responsibility to
facilitate and coordinate the implementation of the
School Development Plan.
1. Activate the School Development
Team

plan

2. Set timeframes and structures
A. Immediately following the external review
 Within two weeks of receiving the External
Review Report, debrief staff
 Within three weeks of receiving the External
Review Report, debrief school council
 Review the commendations and
recommendations with a view to how these
may be incorporated into the plan
 Revise and submit the School Development
Plan within four weeks of receiving the
External Review Report

 Provide school development updates at all
staff, divisional, subject and department
meetings
 Establish action teams to ensure the
implementation of the goals and objectives in
the plan
 Adhere to timelines stated in the School
Development Plan and action planning
templates
 Revise, update and submit Annual School
Development Report (ASDR)

Communications

Create and support a culture for building a
professional learning community
Support collaborative decision making at all
staff, divisional, subject or department
meetings
Communicate the school development plan to
the school community
Link the school development plan to teachers’
individual professional growth plans
 Liaise
with district office school development
personnel
 Align PD initiatives and funding with school
development support plans
4. Track and Analyze Data



Ensure a process is in place for digital data
collection, analysis, storage and monitoring,
pertaining to the goals
Ensure the plan reflects the challenges and
current data
Regularly evaluate and measure the
indicators of success from each strategy and
objective in the yearly School Development
Plan
 Analyze
the data at reporting periods,
throughout the year, and over time to identify
trends
 Receive completed action plan tracking
templates, analyses and written summaries
from action teams, departments, committees
 Revise the School Development Plan yearly
using the ASDR template
