for all Pennsylvania children and families by
building systems and providing supports that
help ensure access to high quality child and
family services.
The office is a joint initiative

New children served in FY 08-09
Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts - additional $12.5 million to reach
1,000 more children and to respond to parent requests that
some half-day programs be extended to full-day (12,000 total).
Keystone STARS – $4.8 million increase will allow programs to
provide higher quality early education to 170,000 children.
Child Care Works Subsidized Child Care Program –$6.9
million increase will serve an additional 2,600 children, allowing
services to 235,000 children total.
Early Intervention - expansion will serve 1,450 more infants &
toddlers (32,600 infants and toddlers total) and an additional
1,480 preschoolers (44,900 preschoolers total).
Nurse Family Partnership – $1 million increase will serve up to
an additional 240 families (up to 4,200 families total).
