Verification Process
Pain Points 1
An essential workflow step often mandated by regulatory authorities
Main value of verification is the input of corporate product and marketing
knowledge
Verification is usually performed by product managers, application
specialists, sales people and others in addition to their normal workload
Verifiers are not linguists and often do not refer to existing reference
material, glossaries and TMs
Additional work is required to update TMs with all verifiers changes and to
incorporate verifiers feedback into other ongoing projects
Life Science RT / Brigitte Herrmann & Melanie Ehrlich & Michael Oettli
Verification Process
Pain Points 2
Intransparent and time consuming verification process
Lack of overview or control of verifiers and the verification process
No Standard Input Format (annotated PDF, MS Word documents with or
without tracked changes etc ..).
Incorporation of verification changes is usually a time-consuming process:
- verified files are sent to translators for review
- A feedback loop is initiated if translators disagree with verification
changes (errors and inconsistencies may be introduced)
- Approved changes are incorporated in final and bilingual files
- TM is updated
- LSP performs additional QA checks
Life Science RT / Brigitte Herrmann & Melanie Ehrlich & Michael Oettli
