Why Change?

Why Change?
Closed period provides level contributions over a fixed period of time and reduces unfunded actuarial liability on a set schedule Cities that see a contribution increase of 0.5% or less will use a 25-year closed period 4/26/2020 19
Implementation
For cities with a contribution increase greater than 0.5% ― 8-year phase-in Approximately 12.5% of the increase required each year The longer a city defers payment of the full Actuarially Required Rate, the higher the rate will be 4/26/2020 20
