 The new Wildlife Conservation Act enforced in 2011
 Poaching of tiger: max US$166,000 and 5 years
imprisonment
 MIST based enforcement being implemented at Taman Negara
NP and Endau Rompin NP by DWNP with the assistance of WCS,
WWF & MYCAT
 MIST based patrol and 1NRE interagency patrols to be
expanded at 3 priority tiger habitats in 2014-15
 Additional staffing for DWNP in 2014 for law enforcement and
Tiger Unit

 2013: about 100 locals will be trained as licensed nature guides for parks
 Funding: US$70,000 from the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia
AGENDA 4: COLLABORATION AMONG TRCs
 Belum State Park in Malaysia and Hala Bala PA in Thailand has been
identified as trans-boundary PA
 To be strengthened under the GEF funded PA Project in 2013-14
AGENDA 6: ACCELERATE FUNDING
 Government: US$45 million for Ecological corridor; US$1.5 million for
tiger survey at Taman Negara NP
 UNDP GEF Funding for PA US5.6 million 2013-2019; for CFS US$9.6
million and expected to commence in 2014
 WWF-M and WCS-M sourcing funding for national tiger survey in
2014-15
