Khichdi is a mixture of rice and lentils cooked together in spices. When you want to eat something light and nutritious khichdi always come in mind. Each home has its own variation to khichdi right from the variety of dals and each of them is delicious. Toor dal khichidi is popular in Uttar Pradesh areas. It is served with pickle and plain yogurt.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes Ingredients: Rice, Toor Dal ( Lentils), Salt and turmeric powder.

Price: €2 (serves 2) Step 1: Soak ½ cup rice and ½ cup toor dal in water for 5 minutes.

Step 2: Wash the soaked dal and rice under water and then put it in a pressure cooker.

Step 3: Add 2 cups of water, 1 tablespoon salt and ½ tablespoon turmeric powder and close the lid of the pressure cooker. Step 4: When the pressure starts steaming in 5-6 minutues, turn the heat down and let it cook for 3-4 minutes. (Different pressure cookers may take different times.

Step 5: Khichdi is ready. Serve hot with pickle of your choice.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes Ingredients: Milk, Ready made kheer rice mixed with nuts, Ingredients can be bought at Aldy (milk price 1L 95cents), The kheer mix was bought at Turkish Shop Poptahoff for 1.45 euro Cost: €2.40

Let it cool for around 10 minuites Keep it in fridge and serve it cold. (Tastes Best when chilled) Nuts can be added separately based on needs

Flavouring:soy sauce,vinegar,white sugar,starch,cooking wine,chilli sauce Cost: €3.50

Steps: 1. cut chicken,carrot,cucumber into small pieces,make the meat salted in the mixture of starch,cooking wine and soy sauce.

2. fry peanuts,then put the salted meat into the same pan when the peanuts turn yellow, put in vinegar,white sugar and chilli sauce.

3. put in carrot,cucumber, go on fring.

Chicken is one of the favourites of Greeks and this is why they cook it in many ways. Fried chicken is one of the easiest dishes since the preparation steps are few. Tomatoes on the other side is one off the favourite vegetables in Greece and it is a famous ingredient of the Mediterranean Cuisine. If you mix fried chicken with the tomato salad the taste is really nice!!!

Preparation Time: 20 minutes Ingredients: Chicken, tomatoes, olive oil, pepper, salt.

Cost: €3 Procedure a)For the fried chicken 1. Chop the chicken in small pieces 2. Pre-heat the olive oil in a pan for about minutes 3. Put the chopped chicken in the pan, while adding salt and pepped at the same time 4. Cook the chicken for about 15-20 minutes b)For the tomato salad: All you have to do is wash the tomatoes really well and chop them in pieces. You add olive oil and salt and the salad is ready!!!

Stews are a staple of Irish cuisine. A hearty meal to warm you up on cold rainy days, preparing a stew can take a little time, but you will have enough food for a family, or handily, enough to eat for several hassle free days.

Preparation Time: 40 minutes Ingredients: Chicken, Mushroom soup, Carrot, Leek Can of sweetcorn, Onion, potatoes, Oil.

Cost: €8 (3 meals) Step 1: Heat oil in a pot and add the onion and chopped chicken and brown.

Step 2: Add in mushroom soup and boiling water.

Step 3: Add chopped carrot, leek, a little potato and a drained can of sweetcorn.

Step 4: Bring the stew to a light simmer, and separately peal some potatoes (spuds) and boil for approximately 20 minutes.

Step 5: Cream the potatoes by mashing and adding butter and milk.
