The Meaning of islam 2
Islam means complete Surrender &
Submission of one’s will to the Will of God the
All Mighty. It is the sincere acceptance of the
Teachings and Guidance of God the All Mighty
revealed to all His Messengers (Pbut). It
enjoins knowledge in the Oneness and
Sovereignty of the One True God, Allah [Swt]
which makes man aware of the
meaningfulness of the Universe and of his
place in it. It is a Faith based on Proof and
evidence.
Introduction3
Islam, a Believer or a Muslim (doer of

In

Islam) strives in his utmost to seek the Truth
(Al-Haqq) in obedience to God the all Migthy
as spoken by all His Prophets (Pbuh), i.e.
‘And they say: None will enter Paradise
except one is a Jew or a Christian. That is
merely their wishful thinking.’ Say; ‘Produce
your proof if you should be truthful.’ Q

2:111;
Also Q 3:93-94; Bible Jn 8:31-32.
Introduction4

“That is the book about which there is no
doubt a guidance to those who are conscious
of Allah; Who believe in the unseen, establish
prayer and spend out of what we have
provided for them; And who believe in what
has been revealed to you O Mohammad! and
in the hereafter and they are certain in faith;
Those who are upon right guidance from
their Lord and it of it is those who are
successful”. Q 2:2-5
Proof & Evidences in the Qur’an and in the Sunnah
(Examples of Prophet Muhammad [Pbuh])

Based on Scriptural history among the
descendants of Prophet Abraham [Pbuh]
descended the Jews; the Christians and the
Muslims from the lineage of Prophets Isaac and
Ishmael [Pbut]. These three (3) groups of people
are supposed to be followers of the Way of Life
of Prophet Abraham [Pbuh] were given
Revelations from God the All Mighty. Torah to
Prophet Moses [Pbuh]; Gospel to Prophet Jesus
[Pbuh] and the Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad
[Pbuh]. There was only one Way of Life granted
by God the All Mighty, for GOD is only ONE.
Remnants of Proofs confirmed by the Qur’an
can still be found in present Bible
(RSV ’71and NIV).
1. From the Torah, Deut.18:18, God Almighty
spoke to Moses [Pbuh]: “I will raise a
Prophet like you (like Moses); from among
their brethren; and I will put My Words in
his mouth, and he shall speak to them all
that I command him. And whoever will not
give heed to My Words which he shall
speak in My Name, I will require it of him.”
2.
3.
Deut. 33:23, “The Lord came from Si’nai, and
dawned from Seir (Palestine) upon us; He shone
forth from Mount Paran (Mecca & Medina, Gen.
21:21), he came from the ten thousands of holy
ones, with flaming fire at his right hand; so they
followed in thy steps, receiving direction from
thee. When Moses commanded us the Law, as
possession for the Assembly of Jacob.”
Psalm 19:7-8 RSV; “The Law of the Lord is
Perfect.” 2Sam22:31 NIV; “As for God, His WAY
is Perfect; the WORD of the Lord is Flawless.”
4.
5.
In the Gospel Matt. 5:17 Christ [Pbuh] said: “Think
not that I have come to abolish the Law and the
(teachings of the) Prophets; I have not come to
abolish them but to fulfill them (follow and observe)
them.”
Also Christ [Pbuh] said in Jn 16:12-14: “I have yet
many things to say to you, but you cannot bear
them now. When the Spirit of Truth (Counselor,
Periclytos in Greek) comes, he will guide you into
all the Truth; for he will not speak on his own
authority, but whatever he hears he will
speak, and he will declare to you the things to
come. He will glorify me, for he will take what
is mine and declare it to you.”



Muslims sincerely believe in the Scriptures of
Prophet Abraham (Pbuh); the Torah and the
Gospels as God the All Mighty commanded them.
One cannot be a Muslim without believing all the
Revelations of God before the Qur’an.
God the All Mighty said in the Qur’an 2:136:
“Say (O Believers!): ‘We believe in Allah, and what
has been sent to us and that which has been sent to
Abraham and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the
descendants, and what which has been given to
Moses and Jesus, and what which has been given to
the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction
between any of them, and we are in submission to
Him (in Islam) as Muslims.”


In Qur’an 42:13 God the All Mighty said:
“He (Allah Swt) has ordained for you the
same religion (or Deen Way of Life)
which He enjoined for Noah and that
which We revealed to you (O
Muhammad), and that We have enjoined
for Abraham, Moses, and Jesus to
establish the Religion and not be divided
therein. Difficult for those who associate
others with Allah is that to which you
invite them, Allah chooses for Himself
whom He wills and guides to Himself
whoever turns back to Him.”
 Also
God the All Mighty said in
Qur’an 3:67:

“Abraham was neither a
Jew nor a Christian, but he
was one inclining toward
the truth, a true Muslim
submitting
to
Allah
(Hanifa), and he was not
of the polytheists.”
What the word ISLAM means in
English?
It is both a Verb
and
Islam as a Verb (Action)
 Surrender to God
Almighty
 Submission to His Will
 Obey His
Commandments
 Sincere Worship Only for
Him
 Peace of mind, heart &
soul
a Noun
Islam as a Noun
 (6) Six Articles of Faith or
Belief
 (5) Five Pillars of Action
 Complete Way of Life
 Rights and Limitations
 Moderation in all things
SURRENDER
This is explicitly understood as God the Almighty says in the Qur’an 3:19 :
“Truly, the Way of Life (religion) that is
acceptable with Allah is Islam (Submission).
Those who were given the Scripture did not
differ except, out of mutual jealousy, after
knowledge had come to them. And whoever
disbelieves in the signs of Allah, then surely
He is Swift in calling to account.”
This way of Surrender requires full consciousness and willingness
to Submit to the Will of the One True God.
SUBMISSION

“But no, by your Lord, they can have no Faith,
until they make you (Muhammad, Pbuh) as
judge in all disputes between them, and find no
resistance against your decisions, and accept
(the decisions) with full submission.” Qur’an
4:65
Total submission is required after the surrender and
some terms have to be set forth by Allah to be
understood by the Muslims. There can be no option in
the matter as Allah says in the following verse in the
Qur’an 33:36

“It is not fitting for the believing man
nor believing woman, that whenever
Allah and His Messenger have
decided any matter, that they should
have any other opinion. And
whoever disobeys Allah and His
Messenger, they had indeed strayed
into a plain error. ” Qur’an 33:36
Whatever Allah and His Messenger have set out as being
the Way of Islam, it is incumbent on the Believer, man
or woman to obey and follow completely. One must
consciously and conscientiously give oneself to the
service of Allah.
OBEDIENCE



“And obey Allah and His Messenger.” Qur’an 3:132
O you who believe! Obey Allah and His Messenger and
those of you who are in authority. If you differ in
anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allah and His
Messenger, if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day.
That is better and more suitable for final
determination.” Qur’an 4:59
“He who obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed
Allah, but he who turns away, then we have not sent
you as a watcher over them.” Qur’an 4:80
This means to act on what Allah [Swt] enjoins us all to
do in the Qur’an and what His beloved Prophet
Muhammad (Pbuh) encouraged us to do in his Sunnah
(his examples and sayings personifying the Qur’an).
SINCERITY & PURITY OF
INTENTION
Allah [Swt] is Pure and only accepts pure and
sincere intention. So the one who
Surrenders, Submits, and Obeys Him should
have sincere, clean, honest and pure heart.
Prophet Muhammad [Pbuh] said: “Verily,
deeds are rewarded by intention. And
everyone will have the reward for that
which he has intended.” Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol.1
# 1.
Sincere intention is the key to success or failure
of the Muslim. All that one does must be for
the sake of Allah [Swt] and not for the chance
to show off or call attention to himself or
herself. If there is even a speck of pride or
showing off for the people instead of doing for
Allah, then the whole matter will be rejected
by Allah [Swt] on the Day of Judgment. This
is due to the fact that Allah wants Purity of
Intention and Purity of deed.
PEACE


Peace or Salam is mentioned many times in the AlQur’an al-Kareem and it is the most sought after
condition in life for every human being on Earth.
Allah [Swt] in the Qur’an said: “He is Allah besides
Whom there is none worthy of worship, The King,
The Holy, The Peace , The Watcher, The All Mighty,
The Compeller, The Supreme. Glory be to Allah! He
is above all that they try to associate with Him as
partners.” Qur’an 59:23
On this earth, humans strive to achieve peace and
tranquility in their lives, however Peace can only be
achieved when all the four conditions are met. It is
the inevitable result of doing the four conditions.
However, it does not imply those people who
submits their will to the Will of God the All Mighty
and are loved by the Creator shall not be
subjected to a Test. For Allah [Swt] said: “Do
they think that they will be left alone on saying,
‘We believe and that they will not be tested’? For
sure We will test them as We have tested those
who came before them, to show them the
truthful of the honest and the liars in their
falsehood.” Qur’an 29:2-3
Once we humble ourselves, rid ourselves of
egotism and submit totally to Allah [Swt] and to
Him exclusively, in Faith and in Action, we will
surely feel Peace in our hearts that transcends
externally as well.

ISLAM – A COMPLETE WAY OF LIFE
Deen al-Islam or The Way of Submission to our
One True God or Allah [Swt], the Lord of all
that exist is from Him Who created and
sustained all that we see and we do not see.
“Alyawma ‘akmaltu lakum Deenakum
wa’atmamtu ‘alaykum ni’matee wa radeetu
lakumul-’Islama Deena.” Qur’an 5:3
“This day, I have perected your religion for you,
completed My Favor upon you, and have
chosen for you ISLAM as your Way of life (or
religion).” Qur’an 5:3
In the Qur’an are Injunctions and
Commandments which concern virtually all
facets of one’s personal, family, civic life.
These include such matters as diet, clothing,
personal hygiene, interpersonal relations,
business ethics, responsibilities towards
parents, spouse and children, marriage,
divorce and inheritance, civil and criminal law,
fighting in defense of Islam, relations with
non-Muslims, and so much more.

man forced to realize that Islam is
a complete Way of life for the
human being. Everything is covered
in Islam from birth to death to live
in the complete submission to the
Will of the One Who Created man
in the first place.
Moderation
“All things in moderation” is the famous
saying. Islam stresses the importance of
this balance within the human being’s
lives by telling us in the Qur’an that
Muslims are not in the excess. Rather,
we are to be in the “middle path”
neither extreme to the right nor to the
left. Allah [Swt] the All Mighty calls us
the “Balanced Nation.”


The path of God’s Commandments,also
