PS8 inputting will be a breeze …
Direct Schedule Build vs. Paper
SIS Submission

What’s the Same?
• Purpose: establish the
course offerings for a
future term.
• Process: adding,
changing, and deleting
class schedule data.
• Data elements
• Data relationships/edits
• Scheduling handbook

What’s Different?
• Method: Update via
PS8, not hard copy SIS.

What’s the outcome?
• More time to build
schedules!
• Efficient use of your time!
• Instant changes!
• Increased department
control!
• Reduced paperwork!
Common Questions

I’ve done my scheduling without having to
know all the PS pages …
• Training is being provided. That’s what we are
here for now, and later on as you really begin
to manage your department’s class offerings.

What if I enter something inaccurately?
• Not to worry
… there is an edit program
that will help identify many common data
inconsistencies. And … we’re working months
ahead of when the data will actually be used.

FAQ’s and Other Useful
Information

How long can I leave the system idle before it logs me off?


If left idle for 45 minutes, the system will log you off.
Are there F-key shortcuts in version 8?

There are shortcuts, but they are somewhat different
than version 7. Please see the section on Hot Keys for
more specific information.

What is the recommended way to cancel out of a page?

You may click on a tab, a hyperlink, or a breadcrumb to
move to another page or component.
FAQ’S …

If I am experiencing problems, or just forget what to do, who can I
contact for help?

For the Instruction Office Division, there are two avenues to access support
related to PeopleSoft questions:
• Instructional Mentors: these are the Division Secretaries, ADA’s
and a few other selected individuals located off the main campus.
Mentors are available to be your first contact regarding a PS8 question
or concern. They are a great resource for general navigation pointers
and tips, as well as routine process questions and reminders. The
mentors can also help you determine if your question should be elevated
to the next level, the Functional Specialist.
• Functional Specialist: These individuals are here to help when a
process or report just doesn’t seem to work like it should. Or, data you
are familiar with just doesn’t seem to look right. Perhaps you can’t
access a page or report you have in the past. Or, a process seems to
“hang” without ever completing. Your Functional Specialist will help you
to trouble shoot the problem and determine the best corrective action.
More … FAQ’S …

What is cache? And, why should I clear it?
 Cache is a temporary storage area for web pages that
generally helps to speed your return to a previously viewed
web page – until it gets too much history.
 Once in a while, you may notice that data displayed on PS8
web pages doesn’t look right. Maybe, data appears out of
order, or a row may be duplicated. Many times, clearing your
cache will correct display problems and improve
performance.
More …FAQ’s

What happens when I save data before completing all
information in a component?

page, the system will not allow you to save the data.

be saved. Incomplete or missing data that is optional
can be updated later.
