KONTAKT 60
Contact maintenance : cleaning
 Works through a chemical reaction
 K 60 will convert the corrosion products, oxides,
sulphides, ... into soluble components
 Without damaging the base contact metal
 Restores metal-metal contact and the contact resistance
 Directions : for optimum results, flush away soluble
components with K WL, protect contact with K 61
18
KONTAKT WL
Contact Maintenance - rinsing
 After the cleaning with K60, the residues should be
rinsed away
(K 60 oil + dissolved copper oxides can become sticky)
 After that we have a bare metal, which will corrode even
more rapidly
19
KONTAKT 61
Contact Maintenance – protection, lubrication
 After cleaning with K WL, apply K 61
 Protects and lubricates the metal surface
 Leaves a thin film, with very good electric properties
 New contact also has to be protected and lubricated
20
KONTAKT 40
Contact Maintenance – protection, lubrication
 Used when main purpose is corrosion protection
 Lubrication is a little better then K 61
 Leaves a thin film with moderate electric properties
 Can be used with high voltage contacts
 K 40, multifunctional :
+ water displacement, penetrating oil
21
KONTAKT GOLD 2000
Contact Maintenance –protection, lubrication
 A high grade synthetic oil, with good anti-corrosion & very
good lubrication properties
 Prevents wear, high pressure absorption
 For soft metals : gold, silver, palladium plated contacts
 Leaves a very thin film, with excellent electric properties
 Even very small contacts can be treated

CORROSION PROTECTION - oils
Fluid 101, Kontakt 61, Vaseline 701, Kontakt 40
 Good adhesive power of the film, chemical stability
 Fl 101 : short term protection (thin film),
+ water displacement properties, restore water-damaged
equipment
 V 701 : a thick white paraffinum oil, chemical properties
and electrical properties : idem K 61, better protection
due to the thick layer.
Also used as a universal lubricant for sensitive materials

/ Dry lubricant
26
LUBRICATION - oils
Kontakt 61, Vaseline 701, Kontakt 40, Gold 2001, Lub Oil 88
 All mineral oils : lubricating is determined by good
adhesion of the film.
Surface active additives are added to improve adhesion
and chemical stability towards materials and environment
 V 701 : a universal thick lubricant for sensitive materials
also a good protector of rubber materials
 Lub 88 : very good lubricant, does not resinify : used as a
lubricant of precision mechanisms in electro-mechanics
++ detergent oil : will also dissolve dirt from surface
27
LUBRICATION – oils , dry lubricant
Silicone 72, Kontaflon 85
 Silicone 72 : A synthetic oil, high contents of silicone (43%)
lubrication of different materials : plastic, metal, wood,
isolation of electric cables, prevent leaking currents,
also used as a mould release agent for plastics
 Kontaflon 85 : Dry thin lubricating film of PTFE powder
an ideal lubricant for slow moving parts.
To improve the adhesion : a small amount of resin has
been added to keep the powder in place.
Also used as a mould release agent (silicone free)
28
CORROSION PROTECTION : conformal coatings
Protective conformal coatings
 Plastik 70
 Urethane 71
 Silisol 73
Only in
bulk (1L)
29
CONFORMAL COATINGS
Plastik 70, Urethan 71, Silisol 73
 Transparent flexible coatings for electronics, PCB’s, excellent
insolators, with good dielectric properties
 P 70, universal acrylic conformal coating, quick drying,
the film can be removed and soldered through
 U 71, urethane based conformal coating, slower drying, cured
for handling after 1 day, speed-up by heating.
Better resistance to chemicals, oils ............
 S 73, only in bulk, a silicone based varnish with the best
results, very high temperature and chemical resistance
MIL Spec, used in many high tech applications
30
CORROSION PROTECTION : soldering aid
Temporary corrosion protection – flux for soldering
 Flux SK 10
 Will protect against corrosion,
oxidation in case of temporary storage
 PCB’s often need soldering at a later stage
 Flux SK 10 acts as an outstanding fluxing agent
 Only to be removed when better protection is required
31

 EMI 35
33
CONDUCTIVE COATINGS
Graphit 33, EMI 35
 Provide electrical conductive coatings to non-conductive
materials, mostly protection of inside housings
 Gr 33, gives a moderate conductive coating, used
primarly as an anti-static coating, prevents the build-up of
electrostatic charges in housings, packaging materials.

most of malfunctionings are due to thermal faults
 The equipment is in on-mode, but is not functioning.
By spraying onto the suspected part, the equipment will
start functioning again. The fault has been located
 Also used for shrinking of fitted parts in mechanics
 Also used for removal of chewing gum from textiles,...
