Hold Your Wee For A Wii!
• On Friday, Jan 12, 2007,
Jennifer Strange participated in a radio
contest to win
a Nintendo Wii for
her children.
• She came in 2nd place
and went home with
2 tickets to a Justin Timberlake concert.
Before leaving the station she complained
of a headache.

A few hours later, her body was
discovered at her home. There was
no visible trauma.
Cassandra Killpack
Cassandra Killpack of Utah
was at home with her
parents when she began
complaining of dizziness
and eventually lost
consciousness. She was 4
years old.
3 year old Rosita Gonzales was with
her babysitter when she lost
consciousness and died on October
14, 2002.
Andy Warhol,
famous for his
paintings of
Campbell’s Soup
Cans, Marylin
Monroe, and
Elizabeth Taylor
died at New York
Hospital on
February 22, 1987.
He was recovering
from gallbladder
surgery.
Cynthia Lucero was
finishing her 2nd
marathon. She made it to
mile marker 22 when she
collapsed. She died
several hours later.

people is the same.
What killed these
people?
Talk with your group and make a list of at least 5
things that could have happened.
• Jennifer Strange was participating in a
radio contest titled “Hold Your Wee For
A Wii.” Before leaving the station, she
drank up to 2 gallons of water.
• Cassandra Killpack and Rosita
Gonzalez each drank up to 3 quarts of
water before they died.
• Andy Warhol’s condition was not
adequately monitored and he was
overloaded with fluids intravenously.
Water is an essential part of
living systems (bodies), how
can it be deadly?
Discuss this with your group and develop a
hypothesis about what happens when your
body takes in too much water.
The problems you will investigate in lab
are:
•How do cells respond to various
aqueous environments around them?
•How do cells obtain the materials
necessary for them to survive and
function? And get rid of harmful waste?
•How does the cell membrane regulate
the movement of materials in and out of
the cell?
