All seniors need to complete by November
30th, 2011
Seniors will meet with their counselors and
receive graduation applications, transcripts,
and credit evaluations during October and
November
Signatures required by parent and student




All colleges and universities require a high school
transcript, SAT Reasoning or ACT scores, and
supplemental materials as indicated
Community Colleges require a high school
transcript and Compass/Asset placement test
Many technical colleges require an admissions
tests such as the Compass or Asset test and/or an
interview
PSAT





PSAT test date is Wednesday, Oct. 12th
$14.00 fee to be paid in the Business Office,
before/after school and at lunch
Student gives receipt to Mr. Willie and will
receive PSAT booklet beginning Sept. 23rd
Why would you want to take the PSAT?
For juniors and interested sophomores
SAT/ACT



SAT- 3 hour test that measures verbal and math
reasoning skills; with new writing section;
typically taken by high school juniors and seniors
ACT- 2 hour 55 minute test that covers four skill
areas: English, math, reading and science with
optional writing section

FAFSA (the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid); if you think you will need help paying for
your college expenses you should apply. You can

Scholarships



Scholarship postings will be made bi-monthly in
the Career Center and on LSHS website
Each college has merit scholarships and will have
their own scholarship applications
Thousands of scholarships are available-it just
takes a little digging and perseverance to find
them

Check with employers, unions, financial institutions, and the
additional resources available at LSHS

Student-athletes must register on website
Turn in authorization form to Mr. Willie
Need 16 core courses (1 course=1 year) for
Division I schools
Need 14 core courses for Division II schools

