Digital Videos for Community
Learning

Purpose
• Prepare a series of digital videos for
community learning about the new rural
economy
• Use for knowledge mobilization
• Each will focus on a key research finding
from our NRE project

The Videos
• Provide “friendly” description and analysis of the research

Dissemination
• Each will be loaded onto the NRE website, put all on a

Potential uses:
 Researchers use as part of presentations in communities
 Community organizations use to explore issues / thinking
 Presenters at conferences/workshops use during
presentations
 CD practitioners use as part of their activities
 Teachers use as examples of issues in curriculum
 Partners use with their members (CRRF; FCM; Rural
Secretariat; etc)

Process

Finalize list of topics / research findings
Develop the “script” for each - footage, interviews, music, narration
Collect video images and related materials from communities
Collect video interviews - researchers and community reps explain or
describe the research findings





Work out commitment / scripts / narrations for NRE researchers

• Edit and create final versions of the videos
• Translate / create some in French
• Load videos onto website for use and produce DVD/CD copies

potential contributions
• “Writing circle” at this workshop among students
• Settle on initial doable videos, get scripts,
narration, and footage completed
• Work through the summer to get videos completed
• Still a number of details to be debated and
decisions to be made (who will narrate, etc)
