About our travel company Tour basics Getting there We will depart from Harrytown by NST Coach/ Eurotunnel at 00:15 am on 5th December 2014 and will arrive in Calais at 8:25 am. Please drop your child off at Harrytown Catholic High at 23:45 on 4th December 2014 Returning home We will leave Calais at 18:20 pm on Saturday 6th December and arrive home at 23:00 pm. Please collect your child at Harrytown at 23:oo. Tour basics Possible changes to arrival times Please be aware that we may catch an earlier Eurotunnel or make up time on the motorway. If there are any changes to return times we will ask students to let parents/carers know when we reach Knutsford. Staff will make contact with home if students don’t have mobiles as we carry lists of everyone’s contact details. Tour basics Who is going? Mrs Casey Mrs Tabor Mr Williamson Mr Barry Ms Wilson Safety: Students will be allocated groups with a lead teacher and must register with their teacher at strategic points throughout the trip Tour basics Behaviour: Students are representing Harrytown Catholic High School and are expected to demonstrate the same high standards of behaviour as they do in school. Tour basics Phones/ devices/ games etc Students bring these items at their own risk, school is not insured if they go missing/ get lost during the trip. Please be aware also that phone calls/ internet usage abroad will incur considerable costs Tour basics Medication Students who have asthma MUST bring their own inhaler or they will not be permitted to travel, this will be checked on the coach prior to departure Any other medication must also be passed to the trip leader with information about who it is for/ administration, etc TL : Mrs Casey (me) *First Aid kits will be taken on the coach Tour basics Our accommodation We will stay at the Château d’Ebblinghem on the Opal Coast for one night. This accommodation is on a full board basis: This includes a Chrismas dinner, disco, breakfast and packed lunch for the next day. Evening: The evening meal is included in the price and is a full Christmas dinner, with the option of snails for the intrepid in the group! Day 2: Breakfast is a continental, buffet style breakfast Lunch is provided: Students will create their own packed lunch and make their own sandwiches in the morning after breakfast. They will have a choice of fillings. Dinner/ snacks: Students will need some money for dinner and snacks Tour basics Travel tips – money The currency in France is the Euro. We recommend that students take no more than an absolute maximum of £50 with them on the visit in Euros. I would recommend about £20 for snacks and meals We will be making brief stops at services in England too, so students may need some pounds to spend here. Tour basics Travel tips – packing The weather in Lille at this time of year is similar to home. We will be walking a lot too. As such, I recommend that students pack the following essential items for their tour: A warm coat. A scarf/hat/gloves An umbrella Sunglasses! Tour basics Why are we going? We’re on our way! About our travel company Day 1 09:30 Visit the beautiful town of Boulogne-Sur-Mer where the Group will have some free to explore the area Group will do the NST Boulogne Town Trail. Prize for the first group to finish 12:20 Visit to Nausicaa Marine Centre: Sea life centre where students will learn the names of exotic sea creatures in French What will we see & do? 15:00 Visit to the Boulangerie: This visit is conducted entirely in French, so a challenge for the Spanish speakers! The entrance includes a complimentary Pain au Chocolat or Croissant at the end of the visit, there is also an opportunity for the group to purchase bakery products they make from the shop as they leave. 16:45 Group arrival time at Le Chateau where the Group will spend 1 night on Full Board accommodation. Towels will not be provided. 17:30 Evening meal will be served at Le Chateau. 19:30 Evening activities organised by Le Chateau Staff – Disco night. What will we see & do? Remainder of the evening at leisure – Games room/ In dorms Day 2 08:00 Continental Breakfast/ make your sandwiches/ Leisure time/ pack 10:00 Board coach 11:oo Visit to the Lille Christmas Market where the Group will spend some free time exploring the market in groups. There is a Macdo and other food outlets here if students wish to buy lunch and save their packed lunch forwe the journey home. Money (change your Euros) EHIC card: I am still missing a number of EHIC cards . Please bring them in asap and Mrs Casey will keep them safe and return on coach on way home.
