Student Quote – Adam R

Edmodo is extremely beneficial to my learning experience in several ways. The fact that I can check my homework or other assignments wherever there is internet access is both beneficial and helpful to me in my class, because there is a much smaller chance of me forgetting something when I am reminded that something may be due soon. It has helped me in studying as well. My classmates and I can easily communicate if a good study resource is found.

Parent Quote

I love that my child is using Edmodo in his science class and wish he could use it in all of his classes. Aside from keeping him technologically savvy, Edmodo keeps us in the know about his classwork, homework and upcoming quizzes, tests and projects. I know what they are learning at all times so it makes conversation around the dinner table a little more interesting than the usual "nothing" response we get to what he learned that day. :) When my son missed school for a week with the flu he was able to keep up with his science work from his iPad in the comfort of his own bed. That made getting back into the swing of things the following week so much easier! It took a week and a half to catch up in all his other classes! Our family is a big fan of Edmodo and we are all looking forward to using it more in the future.

Let’s run through how to use your class!!

Edmodo should be used by more teachers because:  As the world becomes increasingly technologically advanced, today’s kids need to be exposed to technology-based learning.

 The “virtual classroom” allows the students more flexibility to remotely submit assignments at times other than class time.  The students really like it and will likely pay more attention, leading to more efficient learning.  As a parent, I can easily see what is done each day in class, what assignments are due, and the grades for assignments.

 Students have more opportunity to communicate with teacher and ask questions via Edmodo.

I think that technology has come such a long way in the years since my children started school. I have been so impressed this year with the introduction of the Emodo program at my son’s middle school. It has been a wonderful addition to the classroom instruction. A few examples of how it has helped us out are as follows.

My son is on the BMS Archery Team & went to the NASP World Tournament in Orlando, FL in October. He was able to do his work & not get behind while we were gone for 5 days. Also, he ended up having strep throat & was home sick for 2 days. He was able to take the pretest quiz & even the test under my supervision at home and therefore not get behind. What a great way to keep the connection between school & home. It has been helpful for when my child has had to miss school to keep up, but it has also been a fun & creative way to keep the students interested in learning.

Thanks Mr. Goff for being willing to try it out!

Emodo affords the student the ability to stay connected with school regardless of their location. If they are at home sick or in another state participating in a sporting event, the student can log on to Edmodo to obtain complete an assignment. It also allows the student to take more control over organizing their free time. Traditionally students needed as desk and a book in order to complete their work. With Edmodo all they need is WiFi and a laptop and the world is their desk and book. As well, parents are also able to log on and see what is being assigned, what progress is being made and when it is due. It allows more freedom and personal time management for the student with the option of parental supervision.

Student Quote – Elizabeth H

Edmodo is great because it is hard to forget assignments when you can get iPhone, iPod, and iPad notifications reminding you of what you need to do. Also, it is easy to debate and it's fun to see what all of your classmates are saying about different assignments and articles that the teacher has posted.

Student Quote – Ellen D

I love edmodo because it is an innovative way to have class. we get to do everything online and if we are absent or don't finish the assignment during class then we can do it at home. Edmodo has been an easier way to turn things in and we even take tests on it, I enjoy edmodo.

Student Quote – Maddie M

I like Edmodo because when you miss school the online source makes it easier to retrieve missed work. Also if you don’t have time to finish something in class you can pull it up at home and finish it. Edmodo makes it easier to ask your teacher a question about assignments/ material because you can just direct message them and they can reply back an answer to you.

Student Quote – Alex T

I really like Edmodo because its really easy to access from home and very easy to figure out. I also helps from losing things because you have it on a computer and it wont get lost. I like it a lot because you can also turn in assignments on it so its much easier to turn in and not forget. There are so many cool features that make it really fun and easy to use. I would recommend it for any class. (its also very handy since it has an iPhone app that is easy to use when you are away from your computer).

Keeping up with assignments is much easier with Edmodo. My son can look up his assignments wherever he is and has no need to carry endless paperwork back and forth from school to home. He frequently uses his phone to keep up with his work. I think he prefers this method of school work.
