Environment & Energy: international trends

In the world:  New global investment in clean energy reached $243 billion in 2010, up from $186.5 billion in 2009  R&D spending on clean energy technologies by companies and governments grew to a record level in 2010. Within this, the main constituent was government R&D incentives ( source: Bloomberg New Energy Finance, 2011 ) In Italy:  In 2 years the sector’s total turnover (hydro and geothermal energy not included) rose at more than double from 5 billion in 2008 to over 13 billion in 2010  Between 2009 and 2010 the sector has created over 20,000 jobs. Currently, the renewable industry has 120,000 employees between direct and induced.
