Donning PPE
(with N95)
The emerging EBOLA preparedness is new for our nation
and our organizations. Information changes rapidly,
sometimes daily based on new findings. This information is
current as of 10/22/14 and is based on CDC
recommendations/guidelines.
Products used in the pictures may vary from products that
are available at your facility based on supplier. The
principles remain the same.
Consult your Infection Prevention Specialist or the Clinical
Nurse Educator at your facility for further guidance or for
any questions you may have.

Hood
Tie the hood in the back, be sure the collar of the white
coverall is under the hood
Blue Impervious Gown
The opening goes to the back and tie at the side
Gloves #2
Over the cuffs of the blue impervious gown
Eye Protection
Under the hood-an added layer of protection in the
event of excessive body fluid exposure.
Face Shield
Hood is underneath the face shield to protect forehead
from being exposed
Verification
The trained observer should complete the following
prior to allowing the donned associate to enter the
room:
• Verify completion of donning checklist
• Ensure there are no breaks or exposed skin
• Ensure there is a sufficient range of motion for the
associate to perform their job.
• Extend arms, bend at the waist
Bleach Wipes
Wipe gloves with bleach wipes and place cloth in the
garbage. Allow for gloves to dry before patient contact.
