place or no later than the next scheduled deadline after activity has
taken place.
*** The grant does not generally fund short-term lecturing or travel to

Faculty International Grant

– There should be a clear relationship between the proposed
activity and one or more elements of the mission of WVU.
– The proposed activity should have an influence beyond the
individual faculty member.
– There must be a clear follow-up plan for the funded activity.
– In addition to letters of support from your department and
college, applicants should include, when appropriate, letters of
invitation from counterpart hosts/scholars in the country or
countries where they expect to work.
– There should also be evidence of a search of funding from other
sources besides the International Grant.

service or tenure-track status. Faculty members
may apply individually or as a group.

• Deadline for the grant is the first Tuesday in November.
• Timeline for the awarded grant July 1st through June 30th of

from the department chair must accompany such
applications explaining the research requirement.

priority on the clarity of the proposal and the applicant’s
attention to the essential details. The proposal must
include sufficient detail to convince the Committee that
the proposed research is scholarly, that it will make a
significant contribution to the applicant’s discipline and,
where appropriate, that it will provide a foundation for
further research, including information about any
applications the applicant plans on submitting for
extramural funding.
