Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program:
Direct Access to the Muslim World
- Teaching, lecturing, leading seminars, conducting
workshops, consulting on curricula and programs,
institutional relationship building, community outreach
- University faculty or professionals who hold Ph.D. or
terminal degrees and who teach, lecture and publish in
their home countries or locales who have demonstrated
proficiency in English

Economics, History, Journalism, International Relations,
Islamic Civilization and Studies, Law, Literature,
Political Science, Religion, Sociology, Women’ Studies
Program Duration 3 – 6 weeks
Hubert H. Humphrey North-South Fellowship Program
•Non-degree program for mid-career professionals in Thai
government and private organizations (currently employed
by national, local or regional government units or
universities or by private sector organizations with
assurances of re-employment upon return)
•One year of non-degree study and practical work-related
experience in the U.S. institutions
•Financial provision:
•Monthly maintenance allowance (US$1,300-1,900),
book and supplies allowance, tuition and fees, round-trip
international travel to host institution and special
domestic travel to Washington D.C. for a special
seminar, field trips, and conference fees

•Thai citizen in good health
•28-58 years of age
•Have at least B (3.00) of undergraduate or good academic record of
graduate level, if possessing a degree from the U.S., should have returned
to Thailand for at least 7 years after the receipt of the degree
•Be in Thailand at the time of interview
•Have an outstanding record of professional accomplishments and
leadership qualities
•Have a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional
experience in public service, in public or private sector organizations and
agencies (an applicant should be in policy rather than research and
technically oriented)
• University teachers with no
management or policy responsibilities
are technically ineligible, except for
teachers of English as a Foreign
Languages and teachers in the field of
Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment
• TOEFL score at least 525 paper-based
(195 CBT, 71 iBT)
• Application: March - June
Thai Visiting Scholar Competition
• Offer grants to senior Thai scholars to
lecture, pursue research or undertake special
academic-related projects in the U.S.
institutions
• Grant Period : 3-6 months
• Prefer to topics focus upon Thailand-U.S.
relationship in political, economic, trade,
legal, cultural, or educational affairs
• Application : June – Mid September

• Additional allowance (US$200-350 per month) for
qualified dependents who accompany the scholar for at

Eligibility of Applicants
• Thai citizen in good health ( not holding two country visas )
• Physically present in Thailand at the time of interview
• have a doctorate degree in academic background with strong
knowledge of English
• have at least 10 years of professional experiences at the university
level (excluding period of study)
• be able to take leave from his/her home institution
• preferably not have had extensive experience in the U.S. during the
previous 3 years
•be willing and able to serve as a resource person in the U.S.
Fulbright-Thailand Research Fund
Junior Research Scholarship
• Aim to develop the capabilities of Thai university staff
members to gain 6 months of research experience in the
U.S. as part of their doctoral dissertation requirements
• 2 grants under Fulbright – round-trip international
airfare, monthly stipend, books and supplies allowance,
and excess baggage allowance
• 5 grants under Thailand Research Fund (TRF) – full
financial support
• Application : June – Mid September
• TOEFL 525 or above paper-based
(195 CBT, 70 iBT)
• obtain written confirmation (a letter of
invitation) from a U.S. professors/scientist at the
host institution that he/she will supervise the
research
• be able to fully participate in the Foundation’s
activities
Eligibility of Applicants
• Thai citizen in good health ( not holding two country visas )
• be a university staff member at a tertiary level institution
who is undertaking graduate work at Ph.D. level in a Thai
university (applicable for the one award under the Fulbright
program)
• be recommended by his/her employer for consideration
• demonstrate strong academic performance at the graduate
level
• have appropriate background to undertake the proposal
they have outlined
• have the concurrence of the university Ph.D. program in
which he/she is enrolled

Foundation NO LATER THAN APRIL 20, 2009,
to be eligible for consideration.
