A) Elder Abuse – Holly A. Zielke, Program Coordinator, Illinois
Department on Aging. This program will increase understanding
regarding Elder Abuse and Neglect and the Law. Information will be
given regarding the cycles of elder abuse and neglect and increase
awareness of the psychosocial and medical needs of elder abuse
victims. Case reporting and intervention strategies will also be part
of this informative presentation.
B) Delirium in the Elderly Population- Nazneen Hashmi, MD,
Geriatric Hospitalist, Associate Director of Geriatric
Fellowship, Carle Hospital, Urbana, IL. This program will describe
the causes and incidents of delirium in older adults. Participants will
increase their understanding of the complex but common issue being
faced by our client.

Comprehensive Care Coordination Panel- Susan Real,
Program Planning Specialist, ECIAAA, Joel Abramowitz,
LCSW, DCSW, IDHS, Melissa Cronin, MS, LCPC, CRC, Care
Manager, Age Wise Care Management. How do we all work
together for the best possible care for clients? Aging and Mental
Health workers working hand in hand. Participants will learn what
we have to offer each other and how to efficiently access services for
our clients.

Depression 201-Sheila M. Greuel, BS, MHP, Community
Support Specialist, Amanda Messinger, BS, MHP Moultrie
County Counseling Center. Depression has similarities and
differences in the older population. Learn how to identify symptoms
of this debilitating illness that changes the lives of our clients and
threatens their independence. It is NOT a normal part of aging and
older clients CAN and Do recover!

Challenges & Opportunities”

Certified by the American Society for Addiction Medicine and the Board of Family Practitioners.
Carle Physician’s Group.
Dr Robin has practiced addictions medicine for 30 years. As substance abuse and addictions are often
hidden in the older population, intervention and treatment can make the difference in quality of life and care issues
for the individual and family. This presentation will provide the professionals working with older adults resources
to discover options for assistance for their client.

attendees with both a professional and personal perspective on aging using humor, poetry, props,
and whatever else it takes to help people relax, enjoy their days and remain positive in their work
and daily lives.
