An extreme sport is a
popular term for certain
activities perceived as
having a high level of
inherent danger, and that
are counter-cultural.
These activities often
involve speed, height, a
high level of physical
exertion, and highly
specialized gear or
spectacular stunts.
Ice climbing, as the term indicates, is the activity of ascending inclined ice
formations. Usually, ice climbing refers to roped and protected climbing of features
such as icefalls, frozen waterfalls, and cliffs and rock slabs covered with ice refrozen
from flows of water. For the purposes of climbing, ice can be broadly divided into two
spheres, alpine ice and water ice.
Wingsuit flying is the sport of flying the human body
through the air using a special equipment, called a
wingsuit. The wingsuit creates the surface area with fabric
between the legs and under the arms. A wingsuit may be
referred to as a birdman suit or squirrel suit.
Windsurfing is a surface water
sport that combines elements of
surfing and sailing. It consists of
a windsurf board usually two to
four meters long, powered by the
effect of the wind on a sail. The
rig is connected to the board by a
free-rotating universal joint and
comprises a mast, wishbone
boom and sail. The sail area
ranges from less than 3.0m2 to
more than 12m2 depending on
the conditions, the skill of the
sailor and the type of windsurfing
being undertaken.
Snowboards are boards, which
resemble a wide ski, with the
ability to glide on snow.
Snowboards are differetiated from
monoskis by the stance of the
user. In monoskiing, the user
stands with feet inline with
direction of travel , whereas in
snowboarding, users stand with
feet transverse to the longitude of
the board. The profesionals
snowboardings need a especial
equipment to realise this sport.
