IWBF EUROPE PROMOTING WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL Current Position 30 NOWB’s members of IWBF Europe 26 Men’s and 7 Women’s teams are in regular competition About 7000 registered players in Europe 6% are women 5% youth (male and female) 1% women under age 25 years Targets 2011 -15 • 9000 registered players by 2015 IWBF EUROPE PROMOTING WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL •IWBF Europe membership of 35 NOWB’S & 3 to have a serious programme •European Championship for Women with 12 teams •U22 European Championship with 10 teams Development Strategy 2011 - 15 IWBF EUROPE PROMOTING WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL • Support for Developing Countries Analysis of Requirements No limit on numbers but priority given to 3 per year 3v3 • Education Develop a pool of instructors Organisation of clinics for coaches, referees, classifiers • Women & Youth Organisation of training camps and tournaments • Development of Materials For players, coaches, managers, classifiers, referees
