Objective:
Student will be able to use formula
routinely for finding the perimeter and
area of basic two-dimensional figures
including rectangles, parallelograms,
trapezoids, squares, triangles, circles.
TWO DIMENSIONAL FIGURES
RECTANGLE
PARALLELOGRAM
SQUARE
TRIANGLE
TRAPEZOID
CIRCLE
Definitions:
Rectangle is a parallelogram with four
right angles.
Parralelogram is a four sided shape with
two pairs of parallel sides.
Trapezoid is a quadrilateral with one pair
of parallel sides.
AREAS of PARALLELOGRAM
= base x height (b x h)
A Parallelogram is a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides

SQUARES and RECTANGLES ARE PARALLELOGRAMS
Area and Perimeter:
Area is the number of
squares inside the shape.
To find the area of the
shapes, use the formulas
for each shape.
Perimeter is the distance
around the shapes. To
find the perimeter of the
shapes, add all sides.
AREA of TRAPEZOID:

Definitions:
Circumference is the distance
around the circle. It is another
word for perimeter.
Area is the number of squares
inside the circle.
