Why is GREENE-BOARD “GREEN”
GREENE-BOARD™ is manufactured with patent pending proprietary
process of natural mineral products including magnesium oxide and
magnesium chloride. The manufacturing process for GREENE-BOARD™
consumes less than 50% of the energy required to make a Portland cement
based product. When GREENE-BOARD™ is sized, excess material is saved
and recycled into the future production runs. 100% of the post-industrial
waste created during manufacture is recycled. GREENE-BOARD™ also
contains a minimum of 5% post-consumer waste material.
GREENE-BOARD™ has a natural resistance to the growth of mold and
mildew, without the addition of toxic chemicals. GREENE-BOARD™ also
contains no silica, no asbestos, no VOCs, so it is safe to install and safe for
the end-user. Because of these features GREENE-BOARD™ contributes to
USGBC LEED point for indoor air quality. GREENE-BOARD™ also
contributes t0 USGBC LEED points for durability (lifespan) and recyclability.
Because the primary components of GREENE-BOARD™ are all natural, it
can be recycled as construction fill with no negative impact on the
environment. GREENE-BOARD™ can also be recycled through a remanufacturing process.
LEED ~ LEADERSHIP IN ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN
A rating system developed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) to assess the
environmental sustainability of building designs.
LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of
high performance green buildings. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to
sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental
health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection
and indoor environmental quality.
LEED certification is third-party validation of a building’s performance. LEED certified
Projects blend environmental, economic, and occupant-oriented performance. They

fungal growth. All samples had a rating of 10 (perfect score)
