Quenching an Eternal Thirst
“On that day living water will flow out
from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea
and half to the western sea, in summer
and in winter. The Lord will be king over
the whole earth. On that day there will be
one Lord, and his name the only name”
(Zechariah 14:8-9 NIV).
Christians think of water in a spiritual
sense. Rightly so. But for many people
around the world, real water is a need also.
The pressing,
tangible need for pure
drinking water must be met before some
can even consider Christ’s living water.
For example . . .
Can you turn on the faucet in
your home and drink water that
isn’t harmful to you, your
family, or your guests?
If you can, then you are more
fortunate than many.
No one is more familiar with this reality
than our missionaries. Many missionaries
labor in intense circumstances and do so
without access to clean drinking water.
But through WMU’s
Pure Water, Pure
Love, all that can
change.
The goal of Pure Water, Pure Love
is to provide missionaries and the
people they serve with clean drinking
water, free from disease-causing
microorganisms, at no cost to them.
Pure Water, Pure Love Is . . .
A practical way WMU can funnel
love and support to missionaries.
An ample supply of worry-free
water in places where safe tap water
is not available.
A tangible expression of our
Lord’s “living water.”
“Thank you so much for providing a
water filter for us. What a blessing!
You all do so many things that others
will never know about. God knows,
and I pray His blessings will
overflow in your work!”—

Watering Malawi
“You care for the land and water it;
you enrich it abundantly” (Ps. 65:9
NIV).
Malawi
It has been called the
forgotten land. A tiny
African country about
the size of Alabama,
world reports indicate
that 5 million of the total
population of 12 million
is in danger of dying
within the next twelve
months.
This killer is drought, and it’s pillaging Malawians.
Malawi
Pure Water, Pure Love is working
with an organization called Watering
Malawi, which advocates for long-term
relief efforts in Malawi through
irrigation.
A grant from Pure Water,
Pure Love enabled Watering
Malawi to install one of 16
deep bore hole wells in
Malawi. It is improving the
lives of 6,500 households.
Malawi
What the grant’s doing . . .
●Substantially reducing the walking
distance to safe water sources, creating
time for women and girls to develop
income-generating activities, or attend
school.
●Providing at least nine gallons
of safe water daily for each
person.
●Promoting improved sanitation
practices and creating a culture of
sanitation.
●Providing water for garden

Mission Waco
Haiti
“Everyone who drinks this water will be
thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I
give him will never thirst”
(John. 4:13 NIV).
Haiti
Pure Water, Pure Love partnered with
Mission Waco to provide a water well for
people in Ferrier, Haiti.
Mission Waco ‘s Goal is to
Provide holistic, relationship-based
programs that empower the poor and
marginalized.
Mobilize middle-class Americans to become
more compassionately involved among the
poor.
Seek ways to overcome the systemic issues of
social injustice which oppress the poor and
marginalized .
Haiti
While there, Mission Waco also helped
repair three older and defunct wells. All
of them are located in an impoverished
village of 13,000 where the average
family income is less than a dollar a
day.
Make Way Partners
Sudan
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because
the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the
poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted”
(Isa. 61:1 NIV).
Sudan
We all know about Sudan. It’s a hot topic.
We’ve watched unrest cover this country,
especially in Darfur. Regardless, we know
people in this region need clean water to
drink. And, we know they need Christ’s
living water. For this reason, Pure Water,
Pure Love decided to act.
Sudan
Right now, a woman is drinking
clean water from a well in
Darfur, Sudan.
Sudan
Pure Water, Pure Love worked with
Make
Way Partners, a Christian mission agency
that is committed to preventing and
combating human trafficking and all forms
of modern–day slavery by educating and
mobilizing The Body of Christ.
As a result, women, men
and children are learning
about Christ’s living
water in a tangible way.
Missionary Fellowship
Honduras
“The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy
your needs in a sun-scorched land” (Isa. 58:11
NIV).
Honduras
Honduras
Missionary Fellowship is
the brainchild of Jim and
Georgia Lamont, missionaries
to Honduras. Their ministry
provides a home to orphans,
training them in academics,
vocational skills, and English
as a Second Language. Most
importantly, orphans at
Missionary Fellowship are
taught the Gospel of Christ.
Honduras
Through Pure Water, Pure Love
children at Missionary Fellowship
can drink clean water every day.
Pure Water, Pure Love serves as an
additional evangelistic tool for
children to learn about Jesus Christ.

“You will be like a well-watered garden, like a
spring whose waters never fail” (Isa. 58:11
NIV).
FamilyFESTSM
Last summer, FamilyFESTSM
volunteers painted houses in
Tijuana and distributed gallons
of clean water. It is a country
where people labor 12 hours a day,
five days a week, only to earn
$45.
In the community of
Alamar, 7,000 people drink
contaminated water
because they cannot afford
clean water.
FamilyFEST
Through Pure
Water, Pure Love,
FamilyFEST
volunteers
provided clean
drinking water to
the Alamar
community.
WMU National Executive Director
Wanda Lee participates in Pure
Water, Pure Love’s mission to
provide clean water as an expression
of Christ’s love.
This modern electrical
system has continued
to purify and filter
water long after
FamilyFEST
volunteers departed.

“ his has become a powerful tool
that God has used to reach the
lives of hundreds of families that
struggle daily with poverty.
It is true that this is but a DROP OF WATER in
comparison to the social problems that exist. But,
it is an important drop of water, especially for
the hundreds of helpless children who can now
drink a clean glass of water.” Pastor Fernando
Martinez, Centro Shalom Tijuana
Disaster Relief
Banda Aceh, Indonesia
Starting over—a familiar theme since
2004’s tsunami disaster. In Banda Aceh,
Indonesia, Bill and Dellanna O’Brien are
committed to showing Christ’s love by
helping others make that new start.

The O’Briens used
money from Pure
Water, Pure Love to
build a well for a local
hospital.
“You can’t imagine what this is going to
mean to the doctor and the hospital.
Thanks to WMU and to all those who
made the money available.”—Bill
O’Brien
