• Guidance on joint working protocols - May
2008.
• Response to the Southwark judgement 2009
• Changes in guidance around the use of bed
and breakfast for 16 and 17 year olds – April
2010
• CLG and DfCS&F issued statutory guidance
on the Southwark ruling - April 2010
The Children and Families Department and
Housing Department agreed to pilot a colocated multi agency team to assess the
needs of 16 and 17 year olds, with
homelessness prevention being a focal point
of activity
The primary objective is to keep 16 and 17
year olds living at home with their families,
to improve their chances of employment,
education, health and well being. In cases
where families can not be held together
we are encouraging improved
communication between young people
and their families which will limit ongoing
risk of homelessness and isolation.
The Young People’s Team
• The Young People’s Team is located in a
neutral location
• 1 Social Work Assistant
• 1 Intensive Connexions Personal Advisor
• 1 Housing Advisor.
