Planning for Senior year





Have your student get a planner or a calendar to mark
important college/tech. school admissions, scholarship,
and other deadline dates.
The student will need to find out the requirements of the
colleges/tech schools they are interested in.
Students will need to start looking online NOW and
request information on the programs that they are
interested in.
It is important to know when the admission deadlines are
and have everything required in on time.
If your student needs a recommendation from a teacher
or counselor, it should be requested 2 weeks before it’s
due to prepare.
Responsibility . . .
This is a great learning
opportunity for your
student to be prepared for
college, technical school,
or work.
Important Dates coming up

Individual Junior
meetings start February
7th. Check the invitation
that was sent to your
home address. If you did
not receive the
appointment in the mail,
check for the label on the
front of your student’s
Course Catalog.
Important Junior Opportunity

American Legion Boys State. Boys' State is a
political workshop which allows young men to
put the theories of Government into actual
practice through participation in city, county,
and state governments. Boys' State will take
place at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN for
one week during the summer. Look for
applications and information coming soon from
the counseling office.
Recommendations from
Counselor or Teachers. . .



Recommendations may
be needed for colleges or
scholarships.
Make sure to request a
recommendation at least
two weeks before it is
needed from the
counselor or teacher
The student will need to
give the counselor or
teacher a resume about
themselves and their
experiences.
Counselor Recommendation
Form


If you need a recommendation, it is
required to use the Student
Information Recommendation Form
Some award scholarships may require
for a student to also submit the Peer
Input Recommendation Form, the

for Transcript form (it is the white form on the clip
board next to the scholarship box)
Indicate what schools/scholarship that your
transcript needs to be sent to
If you know that there is a specific ACT or SAT
score that you do or don’t want us to send on your
transcript, let us know on the form
Make sure to give this form to Mrs. Joyce or Mrs.
Livesay
Please note that many colleges are requiring that
test scores (ACT, SAT, AP) must be sent by you
directly from the testing source to the college.
ACT. . .
 Juniors will be taking the ACT at school on
April 2nd.
 We are asking that the students who are
taking the ACT on April 2nd to make sure
they are at school on time and prepared.
 This is a real ACT test and scores can be
used for college and scholarship
purposes.
More things to remember about
Test Scores





Make sure to plan and be prepared for taking the
ACT and, if needed, the SAT.
If your student qualifies for financial assistance, then
they may be able to receive a fee waiver for the
ACT and/or SAT.
Make sure your student takes what their college
wants.
Don’t keep repeating tests over and over. Take
what your student’s school needs and check for
what your college or scholarships’ require.
