There are deserts in the southwest. In the north and east are sugarcane fields. Coconuts grow in the east. The Cibao Valley in the center of the country is good land for growing crops. • Weather: The Dominican Republic is usually warm and sunny, with a lot of rain in the late spring and early fall months. The higher up the mountains you go, the cooler it gets.
