CUAbroad Strategic Goals 2008-2009
To support the university’s efforts to strengthen the
student experience, CUAbroad will:
Review and assess existing CUA education abroad
programs & initiate new programs
Develop guidelines and procedures for education
abroad program evaluation and proposal (including
health, safety and liability, emergency protocol, etc.)
Encourage faculty to get involved in leading
education abroad programs (short-term programs)

Semester Abroad Overview
Earn up to 15 credits
Must have completed 45 credits
Full-time degree-seeking student at the time of
application
2.8 minimum G.P.A. and no disciplinary probation
(The Oxford Honors program requires 3.5 G.P.A.)
Language of instruction: English or host country’s
language
Wide range of subjects
Open to all majors

CUA in Rome – FLAGSHIP PROGRAM
Full-time on-site CUA resident director
Fall & Spring semesters
Use of CUA’s own facilities: library,
computer lab, student lounge
Excursions to Tuscany and the Bay of
Naples
No prior knowledge of Italian required
Courses are taught in English & Italian
Liberal Arts Track (live in dorm, 1
Italian course)
Immersion Track (host family, 2 Italian
courses)
CUA’s Oxford Honors Program
Fall and Spring Semesters (starting fall 2009)
3.5 G.P.A. for undergraduates (3.8 for graduates)
A wide range of subjects
Take 3 tutorials totaling 15 credits for undergrads
and 9 for graduates
Students will be reading, researching and writing
when not meeting with their tutors
Oxford college affiliation
Live in Oxford student housing (single
rooms, shared kitchen, lounge & bathroom)
International Internships
Gain professional experience in your field with an
internship abroad.
Earn course credits and add an international component
to your resume

Consult with Financial Aid (CUA aid does not apply)
Complete CUAbroad & provider’s applications
Receive transfer credit (C or better, no grades)

Financing Education Abroad
CUA students pay tuition plus a program fee ($5,000)
Program fee covers housing, excursions, and meals if
offered)
No CUA campus housing and meal plan charged
Visa, round-trip airfare and personal expenses not
included
Cost breakdown sheets provided and shared with
Financial Aid
CUA grants & scholarships, federal & state aid are
ALL available for affiliated programs

Discuss plans with faculty advisor
Research programs & talk with former participants
Apply early (Deadlines: March 1 and October 1)
