OTC Student E-mail Accounts
Instructions and Information on Usage

Account Access
•
Go to the main web page for OTC:
www.ogeecheetech.edu
• There are two ways to access your
student e-mail account:
Click on the Mailbox Icon
located on the home page.
Or
Under Campus Services select the Current
Student Information Option
Account Access Options
The orange
arrows indicate
access options
currently
available for use.
Portal Log In Screen
•Enter your Student ID Number. Example: 910029213
•Enter your Social Security Number as your password: 123456789
•Click Sign In or press Enter on the keyboard.
Opening View
The opening view will place you in the student Inbox.
Viewing Messages
There are currently two messages in
this Inbox.
One from Enrollment Services and
another from April Burkes.
To open a message, double click it.
A message preview currently
appears on the right of the screen.
This can be moved to the bottom or
hidden using the message preview
button.
Side Bar Items
• Drafts are messages that you have started preparing
and typing but have not released to recipients.
• Sent Items are copies of the messages that you have
sent out to recipients.
• Calendar allows you to place reminders for yourself
on a calendar.
• Contacts can store information like an electronic
rolodex.
• Tasks allow you to post tasks, track their progress,
and keep up with their due date.
• Deleted Items are messages either received or sent
that you are ready to remove from your account.
• Public Folders house school wide information.
Deleting a Message
• Messages will need to be deleted from the
Inbox and from the Sent Items folder.
• Highlight/Select the message in the folder
you wish to delete by clicking on it.
• Right click and select delete OR click on
the X icon in the menu at the top.
• View your Deleted Items and use the
Trash Can Icon in the top menu bar to
empty out the deleted items.
Sending Messages
• Click the Icon at the top that has the word New
and a picture of a letter on it.
• This will open a new window with your name/email address in the From field.
• Complete the To Field with the e-mail address of
the intended recipient.

• Enter a Subject and type your message
• At the top of the window notice several options:
Send Now, Send Later, Spell Check, and
Cancel

Calendar 7 Day View
•
The current date is highlighted in this view. There is also a Day View
which breaks down hours in the day and a 31 Day or Monthly view.
These options are selectable in the Top Menu Bar.
Creating a Calendar Reminder
• In the Calendar click the button that says New. This will
open a Web Page Dialog.
• Complete the needed information and click on Save and
Close.
• Use Recurrence if this item occurs again, such as a
weekly exam, an annual birthday, etc.
• The Attendees tab can be used to send a reminder to
another calendar. This is mainly used for meetings or
events.
• Click the Reminder checkbox to have a reminder open
on your screen prior to the item occurrence.
Example Calendar Item Creation
• It is not required that you
complete all of these items to
make an item appear in your
calendar.
•Items can be deleted from
your calendar if cancelled.
•Time can be shown as
several options including
Busy, Free, or Tentative.
•The Label Option will place
a colored label on your
monthly calendar to make
the event stand out.
Creating Contacts
• In the Contact Menu,
click New. This will
open a new dialog
box.
• Complete as much of
the information as you
need to store.
• There are also tabs for
storing addresses and
details.
• Click Save and Close
to store the contact.
Public Folder
• The Public Folder contains information that
encompasses the entire school.
• Contacts include information such as employee
title, e-mail address, phone number, office
number and supervisor.
• Calendar includes events, holidays, and
reminders for the entire school.
• Requests for additions to this folder must come
to ITS through the Helpdesk by an OTC
employee.

• People are sorted by Job Description/Department
• Notice that there are currently two pages of contacts.
You must click the arrow to advance to page two.

The 31 Day View shows all Upcoming Events.
You can double click an event to get the details.
Upcoming Months appear on the right. Days with events are shown
highlighted in blue.
Event Details
• This is the dialog
box that opens to
show you event
details.
• Check for
comments in the
free format area.
Meaning
• What does this mean to you as a student?
– This means that you can have personal
contacts and calendar items for things that
pertain only to you. (Regarding class,
advisement, etc.)
– This means that you have access to public
contacts and events to keep you abreast of
school activities and OTC Faculty and Staff.

• Faculty, Staff, and Advisors can contact the ITS
Helpdesk on your behalf if problems arise or to
add contacts.
