Who are YPO?
•
Formed in 1974, based close to M1/M62 in Wakefield
•
Largest formally constituted UK local authority purchasing consortium –
owned by 13 Local Authorities
•
Two warehouses - 450 staff
•
Aggregate buying power and generate efficiency savings in procurement
•
Self-funding Commercial Model
•
Any trading surplus is shared back each year to Members to recognise
ownership and Associate Members to recognise their usage of YPO
services.
•
In addition we also have a customer reward scheme where every customer
trading through YPO catalogue business receives an annual loyalty
payment based on their individual spend.

• All information about the opportunity will be on the etendering system
• All correspondence will be dealt with through the site
• Allow plenty of time to upload any information, internet
connections may be slow
• Use a legible font, such as pt11
• Don’t leave it until the last minute, consider uploading a
version a few days earlier and upload the final version nearer
to the closing date
• Make sure that you answer the question that has been
asked, precisely and accurately

• Do not assume that we know you, all tenders will be
evaluated and marked based on the information
contained in the submission
• Avoid copying and pasting generic answers
• Make sure examples given are clear and relevant to
the question being asked
• Don’t be afraid to repeat yourself or cross reference
responses

• Don’t include items that are not required – if we need it,
we will ask for it
• Consider if you can deliver the requirements effectively,
for the duration of the contract
• Think about what makes your organisation different?
• Don’t exceed the word count
• Seek clarification, using the e-tendering system, if you
don’t understand any questions or the specification

• If you cannot provide some of the information, ask
for advice or give a reason for not providing the
information
• Be clear on your pricing model and state any
assumptions that you have made
• Ensure that all of the documentation has been
signed in the relevant places by the required level of
personnel
