ECHO &
NARCISSUS
NARRATOR:
Now,we are going to tell the
story of Narcissus and the lovely
Echo.
Echo lived free of problems. One
day Zeus came to her.

Zeus:
My wife Hera, is very
jealous. She doesn’t
leave me for a minute.
Can you sing for her ?

Echo:
I sing very well.
I will sng for her!!

Narrator:
Zeus escaped to the forest with
another nymph.
 Hera came to look for Zeus and
she heard the beautiful song.
 She looked up a tree and saw
Echo.

Hera:
That is a beautiful song.
 Who are you singing for?

Echo:
I’m singing this song for you.
 Zeus asked me to sing for you
and entertain you.

Hera:
WHAT???
 Zeus wanted to distract me with your
song?
 I must punish you!!!!
 From today, you cannot sing or speak
anymore!!!
 You will only repeat people’s last
words!

Narrator:
There is a young man in Greece
called Narcissus.
 He is very attractive and he
knows it.
 All girls love him.

Girls:
How beautiful you are!!!
 Look at me! Do you love me?
 You are the perfect man!!!!
 Come with me, kiss me
please!!!

Narrator:
One day Narcissus went to the
forest to hunt.
 Echo saw him and fell in love
inmediately. She wants to talk
to him, but she can’t.

NARCISSUS:
Good day!
I see that you find me
very attractive!
Echo
Very attractive….
Narcissus
I know!
Well, you haven’t got any
possibilities with me,
I’m afraid.
ECHO
…I’m afraid…
Narcissus:
Don’t be afraid. Are
you stupid?
Most girls are in love
with me!

ECHO:
..in love with me….
Narcissus:
Have you got a
problem?
Can’t you speak
normally?
Go away!!!!
ECHO:

…Go away……
Narrator:
Afrodite, the goddess of
love, is near.
She hears Narcissus’s
words to Echo and she is
furious.

Afrodite:
Narcissus is cruel. I must
punish him.
I’m going to wait for the
best moment to punish
him.
NARRATOR:
After a long day hunting,
Narciso went to a river to
drink.
NARCISSUS:
What a hot day!.
I’m going to drink some
water!
NARRATOR:



Narciso is drinking, and he is surprised
because he sees an attractive young man
in the river. He smiles at the man and the
man smiles at him.
It is his own reflection, but he doesn’t
know it.
He fell in love inmediately.
NARCISSUS:
Oh my god!
What a beautiful face!.
Who are you?.A nymph?.
Get out of the water so that I can
see you better.
Touch me, don’t go.
NARRATOR:
Narciso, tried to talk to
him, and to touch him, but
the image dissapeared.
NARCISSUS:
Boy, don’t leave,
I need to see you!
Who are you?.OH!
NARRATOR:
He stayed there days and nights,
and he could never get away from
the river.He didn’t drink,he
didn’t eat, and finally,he died.
Narciso became a flower.
Afrodite
Narcissus received what he
deserved. He did not love
anybody because he could
only love himself.
NARRATOR:
This myth tells us the origin of
Echo,
which is the voice we hear when
we shout at the mountains.
The story also tells the meaning of
the Narcisism,which consists of
loving only oneself.
