What is Health?
Health is not how you feel?
– Cancer, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Heart
Attack, Tooth Decay
– How you feel are the Symptoms
Your body is only truly healthy
if it is functioning at 100%.
Symptoms:
Symptoms are “how you feel.”
Symptoms are a normal
response of the body to alert
you to a problem, and to help
you take care of that problem.
All symptoms are designed to
help you heal.

The quality of these components determine the

Proper Diet











Eat a whole foods diet.
Organic and fresh are best.
Eat a large variety of foods.
Avoid the “3 whites”- white
sugar, white flour, and salt.
Minimize fried foods.
Eat a good breakfast.
Minimize foods that are
prepared with preservatives.
Eat enough fiber.
Water…not pop, tea, or coffee.
Make sure you enjoy your food!
Breathe clean AIR.
Exercise






Have fun with your exercise programfind what you like to do and do it!
There are three kinds of exercise:
Cardiovascular exercise- running,
swimming, bicycling, and aerobics.
Stretching exercise- important for
good muscle tone and flexibility.
Strengthening exercises- lifting
weights, Nautilus equipment, yoga,
pilates, or personal trainer.
“Work” is NOT exercise.
Restful Sleep
Our bodies heal during rest (self-healing).
It is important to give your body the adequate
amount of sleep to regenerate your body.
The optimal amount of sleep varies person to
person, but 7 to 8 hours is recommended.
Positive Mental Attitude
 The mind and body are one.
 What you think about and
your beliefs affect your
health.
 A positive mental attitude is
one of the greatest assets
for good health.
 Some techniques to work
with mental attitude are
meditation, visualizations,
and affirmations.

The nervous system is the
first system to develop in the
body.
The skull and the spine
develop to house the central
nervous system, the brain
and spinal cord.
The spine is made up of 24
moveable vertebrae and
three bones make up the
pelvis.
The Nervous System is the
Master Controller of ALL
functions in the body.
All cells in the body depend
on energy from the nerves,
like a stem that provides
nutrients and energy to
leaves.
How the Nervous System Works



The brain sends
message down the
major cable in the body,
the spinal cord.
The spinal cord
branches in to nerves
that exit between the
bones of the spine.
These nerves
communicate with all of
the tissues in our
bodies.
Muscles




Responsible for
movement and support
of the body.
All muscles are
controlled muscles by
nerves.
If you have a muscle
problem then you also
have a nerve problem
and vice versa.
