• 2006 applied for Tribal Transit Grant
• 2007 applied for Transit Operations Grant
• 2007 receive from Shakopee Tribe:
– (1) used 14 passenger bus
– (1) used 18 passenger bus
Beginning Tribal Transit
• October 2008 hire Transit Director
• October 2008 hire bus drivers
• October, 2008 RFP for Consultant
– to write Short Range Transit Plan
Beginning Tribal Transit
• November 1, 2008 begin Tribal Transit Service
• April, 2009 implement Short Range Plan
Transit Operations
• Initial Hours:
7:00AM - 6:00PM
• Planned Hours:
7:00AM-10:00PM
– Provide youth program transit option

• 15 employees travel from Santee Village
–Employers are:
»a Call Center and
»a Chicken Egg Laying and Meat operation

–Santee Village to Yankton, SD
• Medical Center and Shopping Center
Practical Matters
• Bus Barn is currently a Repair Shop
• Bus Barn will be the 1st Pick-up location
– Facility has a waiting area for patrons
