How to do Group KAIZEN (QC circle
activity) together with JICA
1) Group organization: In the same shop or related shop, 5 to 7 peoples
(workers) are organized as a group member.
2) Leader nomination: Generally leader is a head of job group.
3) Leader’s duty
Lead the circle workers. Maximize cooperative spirit among
workers. Coordinate related managers and other circles.
4) Worker’s duty
Initially each worker shall suggest many positive opinions freely
(Brain storming). Do not critisize other workers opinions.
Collect the data and photos to know the fact. Discuss each other
based on data. Finally decide the target as a group conclusion.
5) Meeting hours, frequency and when
*Hours : 1 hour
* Frequency :1 or 2 times in a month
*When : Within job time or after job under overtime payment
6) Effective method and tools
* QC 7 steps
* QC 7 tools( graphs)
* Prioritization
* 5S ( Appendix A ) * Waste or loss( MUDA )
7) 5S ( Appendix A ) as a 1 st step theme
It is recomendable to try the “5S” as a 1 st step theme.
Because it is easy to understand “how to do 5S”, and
it is easy to identify the difference before KAIZEN and after KAIZEN
comparing with both photographs.
8) Theme within your workshop
Theme within your workshop should be settled as a target.
Sometimes your group can have meeting with other group
through manager or coordinater’s adjustment.
9) No criticize other people’s opinion
Do not criticize other people’s opposite opinion.
You must suggest more better opinion than his opposite opinion.
10) Presentation conference
Presenter should appeal his improvement based on data,fact
visually showing QC 7 tools( graph & chart.) and photos.
11) Award system
President should award the excellent groups with money or gifts.
