SHARING THE JOY OF THE GOSPEL
Sharing the Faith
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your
faithful and kindle in them the fire of your
love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall
be created. And You shall renew the face
of the earth.
O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit,
did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant
that by the same Holy Spirit we may be
truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations,
Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
When Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do
men say that the Son of man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say
Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you
say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And
Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not
revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and
on this rock I will build my Church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. I
will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall
be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Then
he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.

3. The transmission of God’s Revelation
Christ
Apostles passed on orally the teaching
The written tradition evolved from...
Letters to young Christian communities, answering questions and setting
straight areas with problems
The gospels were written for different Christian communities to
ensure the details were maintained as the first Christian community
began to die
The Church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit defined which of
these writings were the inspired Word of God
Communication of Revelation

4. The response of Faith
My Faith is Our Faith – I believe / We believe
For I received
from the Lord
what I also
delivered to
you, that the
Lord Jesus on
the night when
he was betrayed
took bread…
Lord, if it is you,
bid me to come
to you on the
water
Faith is both and totally a gift of God and human act
But as for you, continue
in what you have
learned and have firmly
believed.
Flesh and blood
has not revealed
this to you, but my
Father who is in
heaven.
The two wings of Faith and Reason
Always have your answer
ready for people who ask
you the reason for the
hope that you have.
If it was God’s wisdom that
human wisdom should not
know God, it was because
God wanted to save those
who have faith through the
foolishness of the message
that we preach…Here we are
preaching a crucified Christ.

Mary, Virgin and Mother,
you who, moved by the Holy Spirit,
welcomed the word of life
in the depths of your humble faith:
as you gave yourself completely to the Eternal One,
help us to say our own “yes”
to the urgent call, as pressing as ever,
to proclaim the good news of Jesus.
Mother of the living Gospel,
wellspring of happiness for God’s little ones,
pray for us.
Amen. Alleluia!
