Journey to a Transformed Life
Dr. Ralph Fagin
Why am I here?
You are at ORU to be raised up to go into
every person’s world to bring healing to
those in need. For such a big task, you are
here to be prepared and equipped through a
whole person education. Our aim is to help
you grow stronger spiritually, mentally,
physically, socially and professionally so
that you can be ready for the challenges of
life.

Founding Vision
Vision
Oral Roberts University was founded as a result
of the evangelist Oral Roberts' obeying God's
mandate to build a university on God's authority
and the Holy Spirit. God's commission to Oral
Roberts was to "Raise up your students to hear
My voice, to go where My light is dim, where My
voice is heard small, and My healing power is not
known, even to the uttermost bounds of the
earth. Their work will exceed yours, and in this I
am well pleased."
Mission
Mission
The mission of Oral Roberts University – in its commitment to
the Christian faith – is to educate the whole person in spirit,
mind, and body, thereby preparing its graduates to be
professionally competent servant-leaders who are spiritually
alive, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, and socially
adept. The University seeks to synthesize the best practices of
liberal arts, professional, and graduate education with a
charismatic emphasis to enable students to go into every
person’s world with God’s message of salvation and healing for
the totality of human need.
Oral Roberts, Dedication of Oral
Roberts University, April 2, 1967
“A human being is made in the image of
God. He is therefore, more than mere
intellect. He is spiritual. He is
emotional. He is social. He is physical.
We will not compromise either academic

What is ePortfolio?
ePortfolio is a measurement tool to help
you and the University track your
development of knowledge, skills, and
character traits as you become more
spiritually alive, intellectually alert,
physically disciplined, socially adept, and
professionally prepared for God’s calling
on your life.
What is ePortfolio, Really?
• A secure website where you will login and then
upload certain assignments from General
Education and some major courses
• A place where your professors will give you
feedback on those assignments
How Does ePortfolio Work?
• Step 1: Go to the lab to learn how to create your
personal portfolio relating to university or departmental
outcomes.
• Step 2: Electronically submit a requested section of a
portfolio (an artifact) for assessment.
• Step 3: The faculty member assesses the assignment
online using a rubric.
• Step 4: Once assessed, check the assessment for
feedback on your work.
• Step 5: At the end of the semester, access VISION to
check your Personal Growth Assessment (PGA).
Why Do We Use It?
Assessment feedback gives you the
information you need to see how you
are progressing on the learning
outcomes that are so necessary to be
successful. The same thing happens at
the University level.
How does ePortfolio help you?
•A GPA averages grades from an assortment
of courses.
•A Personal Growth Assessment (PGA) shows
direct evidence of learning.
•Both give you a significant competitive
advantage.
What is a Personal Growth Assessment?
*Student names are fictitious.
How Does ePortfolio Help ORU?
• As a national model, the reputation of an
ORU degree is enhanced.
• Helps ORU accomplish its mission.
• ORU can deliver and document what it
claims – a transformed life.
