• Develop critical reflection on practice and

• Meet requirements for Initial Teacher Training

Minimum Requirements
• Good Academic Record (2.1 minimum)
• GCSE grade C or equivalent – Maths, English and
Science
• Capability to meet Standards for QTS including subject
knowledge
• Fitness to teach and CRB cleared
• Read effectively and communicate clearly and
accurately in spoken and written Standard English
• PLUS – we do not consider anyone who has not had
significant experience in school

Phase 1: Enrolment and introduction to course tutors and fellow
students (September)
Phase 2: Introduction
September – November:
Mondays: Professional Studies
Tuesdays and Wednesdays: Pathway/Subject groups
Thursdays and Fridays: Placement school
November – December:
5 weeks Practical Teaching 1
Aspects of subject knowledge, themes and processes, are
integrated throughout the week
Course structure
Phase 3: Development
January - February
Five weeks in faculty and placement schools as in phase 2
Phase 4: Qualification
February - May
Practical Teaching 2 – Thirteen weeks block practice in second
placement school
Phase 5: Enhancement and reflection
Three weeks block practice in second placement school, followed
by 2 days faculty review
