SUPPORTING YOUR CHILDREN AND THE TEAM
 Our coaches are appointed by the club.
 Coaches and referees are all volunteers.
 All coaches are vetted to work with children.
 All coaches have attended RFU training.
 The laws of the game are different for each age group.
 Appropriate kit - gum shield, boots, pads…
 Make sure players bring a water bottle.
 Players must be registered and play in the correct age
group according to regulations.
 Following the regulations ensures players are insured.

KENT RFU
 The RFU has 35 Constituent Bodies (known as CBs) based on
County borders.
 Every Club is a member of a CB
 The CB we are affiliated to is Kent County RFU
 The CB covers Medway, Kent, and the SE London Boroughs
of Bromley, Bexley, Greenwich, Lewisham and Southwark.
 KCRFU has around 90 member clubs (Southwark to Thanet,
Sheppey to Deal)
 Around 50 Clubs in the CB have Junior and or Mini Sections

RFU & REGULATIONS
The Club is required to follow strict rules the Regulations set
out in the RFU Handbook.
These “Regulations” govern for example:
 Age group variations of the Laws
 Which age groups can play together
 How many matches can be played
We also hold Mini and Youth Seal of Approval and Sport
England Clubmark to demonstrate that the club is
compliant with the criteria set.

COACHING REFEREEING AND VOLUNTEERING
We rely on willing volunteers to help run the club.

SAFEGUARDING
 All Clubs have a Safeguarding Policy.
 If you have any concerns about the safety of your children
contact our Club Safeguarding Officer Mick O’Reilly.
 All safeguarding and codes of conduct can be found on
the club website under child welfare.

SOCIALS AND TOURING
 Rugby is more than a game and our social side is really important
 Our social events often help fund the activities.
 Going on Rugby Tour is a tremendous experience. It requires:
 Careful planning
 Management
 Permission
 Fund raising

FIXTURES AND FESTIVALS
 We have a fixture list for each age group each season.
 The fixtures include: training, matches, festivals and a league for U17s.
 The number of fixtures is governed by RFU Regulations
 All festivals are approved by Kent RFU

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
 Rugby is a “late specialism sport”.
 Not until at least 13/14 years old do players begin to show their true potential.
 All our sessions and matches aim to ensure players enjoy rugby into adulthood
and beyond.

PLAYER PATHWAY
 Kent RFU run Development Sessions and Trials for players from U13 age group.
 Each year Club and School coaches nominate suitable players to Kent RFU.
 There are also District Squads (a level below County Rugby) .
 Kent RFU link with Saracens to provide County sessions and progressions.
 Beyond County Youth Rugby there is Regional, Divisional and National Rugby.
 There are England Teams at U18 and U20
