TEAM DEVELOPMENT
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

Match
The objective of the training session is to prepare players for competition. The game
shows the tactical, technical, physical and psychosocial development of the player.

Technical
All players in the team have to be individually competent and proficient in the most
important skills for each position. For example, a central midfield player will need
different techniques and expertise as compared to an outside back.

Tactical
This component helps the player fit into the team. Our aim is to create clever players,
capable of adapting to the constantly changing circumstances of the game.

Physical

Psychological
Strong and resilient players will provide a significant advantage to the team. A tired
player will struggle to think properly and is prone to commit more errors.
The human being is often affected by his/her emotions. We will train the players to
use these emotions to their advantage and turn them into strengths and not
weaknesses.

Competition is a great tool to make the sessions “Fun”.

Coaches are encouraged to demonstrate the activities.

Coaches should be enthusiastic and extremely positive with the players.

Filling the Emotional Tank – “Magic Ratio” 5:1



Play with the players when the opportunity occurs. They learn by what you say as well as
what you do.

Coaches should allow flow of training. Stop play only if there is confusion of the setup or an
injury. Instruction should focus primarily on individual technique.

If a player gets hurt during the training session, the coach must inform the parents after the
session.

Coaches should use the same terminology so that all sessions are consistent.

Session must be in progression stage (first - without pressure / second with pressure & Simple
to complex)

Get off the field immediately at any sign of lightning and/or thunder.

Coaches must be on the field 15 minutes prior to the session.

No talking to other coaches during sessions unless it is something related to the session that
needs to be addressed at that moment.

Always contact your team’s head coach at least a day before the session to learn the topic of
the week so you can prepare yourself for the session.
