Part I
Install
Textbook
Tracker.
Double click My Computer.
Double click Local Disk (C:).
Double click Program Files.
Delete the existing Textbook
Tracker folder from your computer
if you have an earlier version.
Click the Start menu. Select Run.
Type
\\esc-msc\public\TextbookTrackerInstallation
Click OK.
Copy and paste the new Textbook
Tracker folder into your Program
Files folder.
Copy and paste the Textbook
Tracker shortcut icon onto the
desktop.
The shortcut to Textbook Tracker is
now on your computer desktop.

Start

Let’s get started with
Textbook Tracker…

Have the Quick Start Instructions.
Print your "pink sheet" class roster with barcodes.
Borrow one of your school's barcode scanners.
Verify that you have the current version of TT.
Know your school's username and password.
(Practice barcodes are included in your materials.)
Plug the scanner into your laptop.
Double click the icon on your
computer desktop.
Enter username and password.
Username = “teacher” + school #.
Example: teacher54 for Interlake.
The Textbook Tracker window
opens.

• See the Quick Start instructions, Part IV.A.
Have your roster ready.
• Obtain a “pink sheet” list of students and
barcodes for your class period
or
• Print a roster with barcodes from
http://archive.bsd405.org/internal/classlist/.
Circulation Group Code
Before checking out to your class,
enter the circulation group code.
• The circulation group code makes it
possible for you to print the verification
report.

• Find your name and period on the list.
• Click OK.
Important!
For summer reading …
Your own circulation group code won’t work
for summer reading because the students
will have a different teacher and class
period next year.

Default Due date is end of school year.
To make books due at other times,
Type period, space, due date.
Press Enter.
Your selections will now appear at
the top of the screen.
Scan the student barcode first.
The student’s information will come
up on the screen.
Then scan the book barcode.
The book is now checked out to the
student.
Watch the bottom of the screen for
error messages.
Continue checking out.
Remember:
• First scan the student barcode.
• Then scan the book barcode.
Each time you scan a student barcode…
Check the screen to make sure
the next student comes up.
Any book barcode scanned
while a student is current patron
will be checked out
to that student!
If you notice damage
during check out …
• See the damage instruction sheet.
• On the command line, type ++, space,
damage description, and date noted.
• Press Enter.
When finished checking out …
• Type CG on the command line and press
the Enter key to end the checkout
process.
• Print the verification report.
• Sign out when finished.
Part IV
Check
in
textbooks.
Check in textbooks.

You do need the scanner and the books.
You do not need the student barcodes.
OK to mix books from different classes.
OK to check in twice.
Type B or b on the command line
and press the Enter key.
B and enter puts you into the
bookdrop mode.
Any book barcode scanned
while in bookdrop mode
will be checked in!
If you notice damage
during check in …
• Click the Notes icon
to verify that the
current student is
responsible for the
damage.
To charge for damage …
• Use the DL command
and press the Enter
key to bring up a
quick damage screen.
• Enter damage
description and price
and click OK.

To check books in …
• Type B on the command line and press
the Enter key.
• Scan the barcode of each textbook that
has been returned.
• Watch for damage.
When finished checking in …
• Type a period on the command line and
press the Enter key to end the check in
process.
• Print the verification report.
• Sign out when finished.
Part V
Print
the
verification
report.
Reports
• Always print the verification report.
• Correct any errors immediately.
• See the Quick Start instructions Part V.
Left click the Reports menu and
select Circulation Reports.
Leave the first row of selections
as is for the basic
verification report.
Change Select By to Circulation
Group Code
Enter your circulation group code
(without CG),
and click Print.
The report will be printed to the
screen.
Drag from File to Print to print
hardcopy.
Make sure the correct printer is
selected and click OK.
After checkout …
• Make sure each student has a
book.
• Make sure you checked out only
one copy per student.
After check in …
• Check with students who are still
on the verification report.
• Make sure you checked in all the
books.
Part VI
Exit
Textbook
Tracker.
Exit Textbook Tracker
• Be sure to exit Textbook Tracker when you
are not using the software.
To exit Textbook Tracker…
Select File and Exit.

Support
for
Textbook Tracker
How do we get barcodes for
textbooks?
• Fill out a yellow request form for each title
to request the number of barcodes you
need.
• Support person will preassign the
barcodes and send them to you or to your
department chair at your school.
• Attach the barcodes to the books.
Download copies of procedures.
