Brethren.
I would like to thank everyone who attended the Table
Lodge Friday last, as well as our guest speaker RW.
Thomas Winters. It was an extremely informative
evening, and brought a whole new dimension and
meaning to the degree prayers.
It is amazing to me how the dispensing of Masonic
light (knowledge) is always at the forefront of our great
and gentle fraternity. It does not matter whether it is
1717 or 2017, the pursuit of light, is, as it should be
our number one priority.
For by learning we grow, and by growing we become
more aware, and by becoming more aware we
become better men, more able to walk more uprightly
in our several stations before God and man.
Performing our duties with rectitude in all of our daily
tasks.
How interesting it is, that the age of enlightenment
coincided with the creation and coalescing of our
gentle craft. How interesting those first table lodges
must have been! Sitting with brethren of like mind,
speaking on the issues of the day in smoky taverns,
and public houses about ways to mobilize the powers
of reason to reform society and advance knowledge.
As the memories of the table lodge recede to the misty
chambers of our memories, I would ask that you each
reflect on the lessons of the Table Lodge, and the
deeper meaning(s) of the prayers that we recite at
each of the degrees. I would also ask that each of you
look for your own hidden meaning in the prayers, for
each prayer is intended for the individual, to be
interpreted in his own way.
